He relied on it way too much during his career though.
Tellingly, it was body shots which finished him in this fight. He just couldn't stand up straight any more from being dug in the ribs over and over again.
Manny is a ferocious body puncher when he focusses on working the body. I've a feeling this will be a more prominent feature of his work from now on.

Bob Arum has revealed there is a rematch clause for the first superfight of 2006 between Erik Morales and Manny Pacquiao.
The Top Rank supremo confirmed that should the Pacman win at the Thomas & Mack Center, levelling their series at 1-1, the two will meet for a third time "immediately".
"The only contractual clause provides that if Pacquiao beats Morales there would be a third match that would be the rubber match," he told Boxingtalk.com

Thoughts??
Pacman mid round stoppage unless Morales has a lengthy layoff and resists the temptation to trade as much in a 3rd fight.. would still be a big ask though.

Or the pain.
Morales said he will be taking a 'long time off' before coming back.
My guess is that he fights Raheem in a rematch, or waits for the winner of Pacman v Barrera, maybe taking a tuneup.

Do you know any sites that have any post fight quotes from Morales? With him going straight to hospital i haven't came across his views on the fight and would be interested in reading what he has to say.

He's an interesting character Morales. Apparently, a bit of a practical joker outside of the ring, but when it comes to boxing you'd be have trouble trying to find a more hard edged personality.
The way he insults Barrera at every opportunity, even after three unbelievable fights, he still hints that Barrera is a bit of a maricon.
And even with MAB continualy trying to make peace, Eric wont hear a word of it.
And the way he posed for photos over the beaten figure of Velardez a few years back showed a real nasty streak. Even with nice guy Manny Pac, Eric found ways to insult him after their last fight.
I'm sure there's a few who enjoyed the sight of Eric Morales humbled this weekend.
He's such a proud warrior, and will be devastated that he lost by TKO I think. So much so that I can see him pushing for a rematch asap.

Normally I would agree where a warrior as proud as Erik was concerned, but there was a certain look of abject defeat on his face that suggested to me that he knew that he couldn't beat Manny.
Last time out, he brought his experience to bear, and simply tactically dominated his opponent.
This time, Manny made several adjustments. Erik has never shown any inclination but to fight fire with fire, last time out he was able to batter Pacman at long range where his tools gave him the advantage, this time he was forced to fight inside by Manny's more patient approach, and when he tried to fight his way out of trouble he got battered.
I suspect he won't go looking for Manny again.
