Boxrec errors, some questions

Last time I checked boxrec listed Monzon as 6' 2 though it appears he actually stood 5' 11 1/2. Additionally, Bonavena is 5' 11 not 6' 1 and Ali's reach is only 80 inches.

By the way, I was wondering if anyone knows George Godfrey's correct height? He is listed anywhere from 6'2--6'4 1/2.

Cojimar,
From a Tale of the Tape I found, Godfrey is listed at 6-2. I generally go with the lowest height I can find. Plus, black fighters in the early years could have much inflated heights if the papers wanted to portray them as giants. I've seen Mac Vea at 6-1, Langford at 5-10, etc that are just ridiculous.

From the Tale of the Tape of the Archie Moore fight, Ali had a 79" reach and I list him as such. The RING also always insisted that Ali was 6-2 1/2. Ali's reach was listed at 80" for the first Ali-Frazier fight.

ya i believe archie moores reach on the tale of the tape of ali-moore was 78 or 79" which is incredibly long for a 5'11 man.

Decagon wrote:Ali was only 20 years old and 204 pounds against Archie Moore, and only 22 years old and 210 pounds against Liston. As he got older and his torso filled out, his reach could have been affected. Or, he still could have been growing.

well then how will u explain ali weighing 206lb in the liston rematch or an INCREDIBLY low 201lb in the henry cooper rematch. and dont forget ali weighed 203lb vs karl mildenberger.

Ali's reach is given as 80 inches in tale of the tapes for fights with Frazier, Bob Foster, Foreman, Jimmy Young, Earnie Shavers and others.

His reach is listed in numerous articles in various newspapers including the Chicage Tribune and New York Times.

Chest circumference may be unrelated to reach as this figure varies more than reach does.

It also appears that some weights given for James J. Jeffries are incorrect. He reportedly weighed 210 lb vs Corbett rather than 218 pounds.

I would appreciate it if some of these errors were corrected. I think accuracy is important.

I see that Foreman's reach is still incorrect.
