Its a bit of a broad question, but here is my opinion. Greatest moment, Louis' victory over Schmeling second fight. Had worldwide intrest and implications. Darkest moment,Panama Lewis taking the stuffing out of Louis Restos gloves in his fight against Billy Collins, resulting in a beating that ruined Billys carreer and life. Also led to his death.Any other opinins would be appreciated.

Decagon wrote:Billy Collins died in a car crash. Probably a suicide, but Resto's beating didn't end his life. Collins killed himself - if he indeed did kill himself - because he was about to go blind. The blindness was caused by the Resto fight.
I know,thats what I meant.

Darkest moment - Jack Johnson beating Jim Jeffries, and the following race riots that broke out.

G-Man dropping to a knee in the Benn fight. The death of Kim in the Mancini bout. Both tragic endings turned post fight glory into tainted victory. Both winners replaced celebration with emptiness after the fate of their opponent became apparent.

Boxings darkest moment was in Mexico City on the 14th of February 1963. In hindsight, that is.

...good picks...if i can stretch a moment to a longer period of time, the primo carnera career would fit here. there have been other similar situations in the lighter ranks, but the heavyweights are the best known..so i'm gouing with da preem...

The Gerald McClelan fight with Benn
I get outraged when stupid ass hole 'boxing fans' say that McClelan deserved to be brain damaged because he was in mere 'Dog fights'.
No man deserves to be in the situation as McClelan.

Ali-Frazier I. It was also one of the greatest moments in all of sports.
