My only concern about Macklin is that he appears a little unsure of what weight division he should be in. He's talking there about fighting for the British light-middle or Middleweight titles.

I dont think its a good thing that a fighter can seemingly consider which weight division to fight in, on the toss of a coin.

Personally I thought that it generally stood a fighter in good sted come fight night, if they had to graft a-bit to get into the weight (so long as they werent killing themselves).

If Macklin (a could-be light-middleweight) fights Scott Dann (a fully-blown middleweight) I dont see any real advantages for Macklin. Come fight nite, Dann would surely be the much bigger man.

Macklin is a light middle who is willing to fight at middle for the right fights / opportunities.

As I understand it he has no real trouble making 11st but went up to Middle as the Irish title shot was available at that weight ..

Too much is made of a few pounds difference in weight these days IMO. Look at Robinson, Armstrong and Basillio etc in the old 8 division days. 5 or 6 pnds differential in weight was never really looked upon as the huge disadvantage it is seen these days.

If Warren thinks so little of Macklin why did he give him a huge signing on fee as an 18yr old ABA champ, as well as a very healthy weekly pay packet for the first 2 years he was pro? Macklin was given little choice but to turn over with that sort of money being waved under his nose…

And now, obviously, Warren can see his development as he wants to resign him to a long contract whereas Macklin only wants 12 months so his options are still open – surely even you saw this implication in the NOTW?!

Its alright to admit it boxingchat – not even the mighty Frank can close every deal he wants to...

Even Frank admitted in his News of the World propaganda piece that it was Macklin who had turned him down and not vice versa. Bit of a first really you disagreeing with your boss. Maybe you should strike out on your own like little Frank and see how you get on?
