I am sorry if this has been done a million times, I am curious to find out who you believe would win in this impossibe matchup.

(Challenger) Cassius Clay 1963 20-0
VS
(Champion) Muhammad Ali 1975 48-2

I believe that the young Clay could systematicly dispatch of an older but wiser and stronger Ali. Taking round after round dancing circles around Ali. Ali might sucker him in late in the fight to exchange on the ropes and even knock Clay down once. Clay in a closer than it looked Decision. What are your takes. :( I wont cry if this thread gets deleted or even worse.....the dreaded link only response showing me the 13 page thread already created 2 years earlier.

Whilst Clay was the physical peak of the man Ali was the better of the two IMO. He was still ophysically very very capable but had also gained a lot of skill and ring smarts. I know this isn't a popularly held opinion. I just think that Ali had gained more in skill and experience than he'd lost in physical ability.

I see the only difference being young Clay being a little faster and using his legs more. Clay gets the nod. Decision by outhustling.

Great topic. This is somthing I was actually thinking the other day.

I think The Ali of 75 had the ring smarts, the body conditioned to take punishment, and he had a much better chin. Clay of course would be much faster but may lack the above. I think if the fight goes 15 rounds Ali would win. If it was a 10 rounder I'd say clay on points. I dont think Clay would have beaten Foreman.
