Barnes v Pryce

I've just noticed that David Barnes v Bradley Pryce is on the the Lacy V Calzaghe undercard.

Could be a good match up this one, both boxers can't really afford another slip up now, Pryce is coming off a good showing against Jennings for the British title. Barnes is on the comeback after his loss against Joshua Okine.

If Barnes is back to somewhere near his best then i expect him to win here, but if he has slipped then Pryce will have a good chance of an upset.

Barnes certainly isn't taking an easy ride back into contention here though.

Barnes is the naturally stronger man, and Pryce has always been susceptible, have to go for a stoppage win for Barnes here.

Not sure if Barnes is the naturally stronger man.... Pryce has competed at Light Middle, Barnes is now at Light Welter.

What weight is this one at, I though Barnes is focusing on a Light Welter career - if it is, then I tip him to win strongly. Pryce will struggle to make that weight and has a problem is sustaining a good pace for a lot of rounds anyway.

Pryce started at lightweight though, and wasn't exactly a raging success at light middle.

Pryce is tall and gangly with good speed and a good whack, but he is not as physicaly robust as Barnes.

I'll have a shlling that Pryce breaks his heart and stops him.

Well, not beyond the bounds of possibility given Barnes' recent form I have to concede.

I remember when I first saw Pryce, he looked very special I thought, but he was pushed a bit too hard too soon, was doing 12 rounders when he clearly didn't have the conditioning. Fought for some 12 round title where he completely ran out of gas and really should have been stopped, and never really looked quite the same again I thought.

Good fight. Cross roads clash. Could be a cracker. I fancy Barnes' sharper boxing to mark up and possibly stop Pryce.

Isn't Farnell training Barnes now?

I think Barnes will win, Pryce is too ragged.

Oh well, at least he will get an A+ for throwing punches below the belt and crying on the ring apron in front of the cameras when he gets beat

I agree with Nick, I think Pryce has had too many hard fights now, most definitely too ragged.

He's a sorry story, and an example of how boxers can be poorly managed!! I remember boxing in Ireland with him on tour about 10 years ago, he was Welsh, and British Champ, and looked a million dollars.

High hopes were had for his pro career, but at only 24 he's already been in with the likes of Neil Sinclair, Michael Jennings, Thomas McDonagh, Ivan Kirpa, Ted Bami etc. Calzaghe should be ashamed how this boys career ended up! It's not even as if Bradley made alot of money!

He certainly hasn't been matched easy!

I think that draw & loss may have woke Barnes up or given him a good kick up the arse, i was impressed with Barnes before both these incidents, so i'm saying he makes a succesful comeback.

As to what level Barnes is well i'm gunna have to wait and see how is next few contests go.

If Pryce is close to his best then he wins. Styles make fights and Barnes - from what we've seen so far - doesn't like rough, infighting at all.

Pryce has a massive heart. He has been stopped and hurt but this should be real incentive for him to win.

I'd take Pryce to beat Barnes in this - In the last couple of fights Barnes has showed poor form not only in the ring, but out of it as well.

With that kind of attitude he isn't going far.

I'm not sure how the Farnell thing is going to work out, but the fact he has even gone there at all signals that he blames others for his own failings.

Then again, maybe he will be a revelation? - Don't see it happening though.

That was my opinion going into the Jennings fight, but Pryce will not put the preperation in, and although he finished strong in the Jennings fight, I was dissapointed with his fitness. He will not sustain a workrate for 3 mins a round, which is where I think Barnes will have the edge. Sad as it is to say as I like Bradley alot, but he is becoming a journeyman. A test for guys on the up.

Pryce-v-Duran for Duran's Commonwealth title has appeared in the schedule for the 11th March(Lockett-Rhodes card, the week after JC-Lacy card which has Barnes-Pryce on the undercard.) Anyone know what's happening?

I think Barnes has pulled out of the Pryce fight.

As opposed to criticising others why not share what you know regarding this fight - has it been shifted to support the Rhodes-Lockett fight following the injury pull out of Docherty?

Looking at Boxrec , Pryce is down to fight Barnes on the M.E.N card on 4th of march, but also to fight Ossie Duran for the Commonwealth light middle title a week later.

Obviously he isn't going to be able to box both those matches, and reading newspaper reports its the Duran fight that is going to happen.

Is it just me or does every major SN show's undercard come a cropper recently? It is a run of bad luck but it puts me off buying fight tickets too far in advance for fear of cancellations of major matches...

You're right there, but Warrens been allegedly pulling stunts like that for years. Just ask Kelson Pinto  :o
