March 4th Shaping up well

Just looking at the schedule for the Lacy v Calzaghe fight and it's looking pretty good.
Lacy v Calzaghe - Supermiddle unification
Nelson v Maccarinelli - Cruiserweight WBO
Morris v O'Hara - British Featherweight
Alexander v McDonagh - Tough to pick domestic light middle
Barnes v Pryce
as well as unbeaten fighters Kell Brook, Matthew Hall, Paul Smith, Tony Quigley and Chad Dawson from the states.
Has Frank actually been listening after the complaints at the Hatton v Tszyu undercard or is Joe just not a big seller on his own? Either way looks a cracking night and am gutted I won't be able to make it

Calzaghe is just not a big ticket seller especially in Manchester, don't think for one minute Warren would put all these good fights on if the main event could sell out the arena.

Yeah it's a daft location for a big Calzaghe fight- should be in Wales of course, even more so with Enzo on the card - but guess the rugby scuppered that idea ( does it HAVE to be in Cardiff though? )
I doubt they're too excited by the idea of a JC fight up north - but FW has the MEN to use and he'll look a bit stupid if he doesn't use it now he's been cuckolded by Hatton.
Looks a brilliant line up, just hope it all holds together for the next 4 weeks.

Well nothing is ever set in stone especially on a Sports Network show!

And there is no rugby on March 4th. There is a break that weekend.

Saw this in my local paper and on joe's site.
Available to joecalzaghe.com you will have the chance of buying a sign ticket for the 4th march showdown against Jeff Lacy.
If you buy a ticket from
http://www.joecalzaghe.com you could be in with a chance to win a great prize from Joe personally.....Here's how it works. Joe will be signing 12 tickets, each of this lucky tickets will be numbered between 1 and 12. Should you be lucky enough to purchase a signed numbered ticket, and if he wins in the round numbered on your ticket, you'll get his signed shorts as well.
Im pissed bought my tickets already....

Calzaghe sells roughly 5,000 tickets for a fight at home including the undercard tickets so I wouldn't think he'd do many more for Manchester. Obviously there may be more people at Manchester who dont venture into Wales for his fights but I wouldn't have thought he'd sell much more than that. I'm sure it wont sell out. It's obvious its only on at the MEN as Warren has to put some shows on there after signing that exclusive deal. Otherwise it would definitely be in Cardiff. How petty Mr Warren and now Hatton is going to the US was it really worth it????

Just cross your fingers that at least one of those bouts (main event included) is still on come fight night

While we're on the subject. In case you didn't know i run a tour operator which does fight trips.
I've organised a Luxury Coach (reclining leather chairs, food, drink, dvd player, hostess 8) ) to Manchester leaving from near Waterloo and coming back the same night.
Including £150 tickets held at the front of the balcony it's £275.
There are still places left so it would be good to get a Boxrec contigent together - it's been a while.
Pm me or go here -

Excuse the blatant ad but it is totally relevant.

Looks okay, I don't understand why Kahn aint fighting on the card though would be good to get the kid some American exposiour which would come with such a televised card. Possibly put him up against an up and comming yank.

Its only Frebruary 3rd. Still a long , long time until fight night. I remember the Williams-Harrison undercard on December 10th looking aewsome to the extent that I bought tickets at £90 a pop and flights down to London.
Alas in the weeks leading up to the fight the 'great' undercard went to shit.
The interesting Skelton-McBride British title fight became the predictable farce that was the 79 second Skelton-John 'Fat Boy' McDermott affair. Indeed that fight kicked off about 20 mins early and I never got to see it.
What would probably have been the fight of the night , Eamonn Magee-Takaloo, was called off and replaced by Souly M'Baye teeing off on a coal miner from Eastern Europe for 6 rounds.
So the moral of this story......don't count your chickens when allegedly's involved. I'll just be happy to see the 'Chocolate Fist' Joe vs Lacy fight happen.

Those ticket holders won't have to worry about not winning his signed shorts then.

Cheers 12round was hoping to go but didn't want expensive tickets. It annoys me that they've put a huge fight of Joe's up in Manchester heck of a long way for his loyal fans to go. If they couldn't do it in Cardiff they should of tried put it in London not half as far to travel. Anyway as long as Joe "Spanks the Yank" it'll be worth it.

You really are a bitter and twisted and not to mention a vindictive prick aren't you. Check your Rugby fixtures out # 1 and # 2 remove your hattonesk blinkers and be glad a good show is happening up in Manchester now Hatton has deserted to the US.
Besides, enlighten us, what have Sports Network ever done to you, your snide comments are getting a tad boring. Stick to the Boxing and screw your opinion on the politics.

I think Nick was referring to the fact that there is no Six Nations rugby on the 4th of March. Which is true.

Am I missing something here? What the hell was that rant about?

Everything he writes is bile, Besides I hear Clazaghe has already outsold Hatton's last fight in Sheffield.
Looks like Hatton is not being missed

?
Since when has Nick spouted bile? He is bored of Calzaghe's career over the last few years: aren't we all, but has given Joe credt for taking this fight.
Anyway: Nick is big enough and ugly enough to defend himself.

Whats your problem?
There is no six nations in Cardiff on the 4th March which was my point as the Calzaghe fight could have happened in Cardiff but for Warren needing to use the MEN. Those are facts not bile. If you need a tissue please let me know.
Funny how this guy turns on me after all last weeks shenanigans could it be Lirva in disguise?
Its either him or boxingchat.

He is not I, but I echo his sentiments.
There is Rugby on Saturday and Sunday that weekend so he should check his facts out.
Furthermore I'll have £100 with anyone that Calzaghe/Lacy attendance beats any (Tszyu aside) stand alone Hatton fight at the MEN Arena.
s for the comment on the undercard selling tickets for Calzaghe in Cardiff. Surely the ame applys, as is proven here, in Manchetser for Hatton. Hatton without the Manchester sellers doesn't sell-out big arenas on his own. Hence the official paid attendance at Sheffield being less that 8k and his next fight being in a 3k seater.

As for what Sports Network have ever done to me, no more than they have done to every fan with some of their mismatches, one sided fight cards all Vs TBA, the crap fights that were on Sky week in week out and the spurious 'world title' bills. If you actually knew what you were talking about rather than making flippant remarks and observations from reading this one thread you'd know I have given Warren credit for improving the standard of his shows since the move to ITV. Long may it continue. What cannot be denied is Warren only signed that exclusive MEN deal to scupper Hatton's plans. Hattonesk blinkers? I can't think where you got that from, because I post a negative comment about Warren I am now practically in the Hatton camp??!!

As I have said since then I meant there is no rugby in Cardiff that weekend. Sorry I wasn't more clear on that I was responding to a comment somebody else said about the rugby being the reason the fight isn't in Cardiff.

Warren was promoting at the MEN Arena long before Hatton turned pro and was even heard of. Benn, Eubank, Naz, Calzaghe, Collins all boxed there so to secure the largest and best indoor arena in the UK was a sound business move. I asssume other Promoters can use the MEN but they have to deal through Warren, so if Hatton was planning on fighting in Manchester they would have to buy the date from Sports Network or let them promote it. Sure, screwing up Hatton's plans was an added bonus for warren but why the concern? Hatton banged out Sheffield (Oh sorry wrong again!!!). Besides, Duff, Barratt and Astaire had the RAH and Wembley exclusively for years so this type of deal is nothing new.
And you do constantly stick up for Hatton without knowing any real conclusive facts so yes you are biased and it is very apparent. As for spurilous world titles (I agree) but ask Hatton whether the WBU worked for him and he'll give you nearly seven million reasons why it did.
As for mismatches and improvements to undercards? has it crossed your mind that perhaps ITV pay more money and the fighters he is working with now might actually want to fight rather than hand pick knock overs to boost their bank balance. iuf certain people want to eat all the pie it only leaves crumbs for everyone else, think about it.
Papa Hatton once said something alomng the lines of: "Them fans would turn up to watch Ricky fight Mickey mouse, they don't care and they don't know what they're watching anyway, they're not Boxing fans they're Ricky fans"
As for not knowing what I am talking about....Please?

That post was not meant for you unless you and Mick Sturbs are one and the same person?
Although we dont agree on much you clearly do have knowledge that has never been in dispute and I have never suggested otherwise. Your allegedly bias is a little worrying though please do tell what is your connection with him? I am intrigued.
