Fittest Fighters

Just watched WBC Minimumweight champion Eagle Kyowa in action in his latest defence versus Ken Nakajima, the guy is just phenomenal. He throws shots constantly and with a big grin on his face! His conditioning is something else, in his last fight with Katsunari Takayama where he won his WBC title both men traded for 12 round none stop and Kyowa's work isn't mindless hooks and lunges like Chi sometimes throws. He is a good bodypuncher (ask Nakajima) and a sound technical Boxer.

The point i am making is who are the fittest fighters both British and Worldwide? Who can go for 12 rounds none stop and still keep throwing quality punches. Pacquiao? Mike Hunter? Lenny Daws?! Give us some names.

Pacman is a good call, Hatton, Barrera must be pretty fit to fight at the pace he has over the years, Peter Oboh is a non stop punching machine, McCulloch in his prime.

Shea Neary in his prime was as fit as a butcher's dog.

Same goes for Barry McGuigan and old Bazza is still in tip top shape today.

Both Pacquiao's, Sam Soliman, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Raymond Joval (for a 37 year old), Mahyar Monshipour... I'm probably missing out on A LOT of sub-126 Asian's due to not having seen them; but I know how hard they train over there. Also, Oktay Urkal in his day was a very fit fighter...

BTW, any of the old school London guys know about Maurice Hope's training before taking on Benitez? It'd be really interesting to know how many sit-ups he did... cause how the f*ck he sucked up that body assault I'll never know. Showed a real champion's mentality that night, sad how it ended.

Pacman always shows up in outstanding condition... Jose Luis Castillo may not cut weight like most fighters, but I've never seen the man let off the gas pedal in a fight.

The little guys (118 and below, I'd say) are almost all in outstanding condition. The first guys that come to mind are, of course, Eagle Kyowa, Pongsaklek Wonjongkam, and Ivan Calderon has never shown signs of being tired, from what I've seen.

A bit muscular for my liking but Leila Ali is pretty fit.

At some point the level of this thread had to drop to zero....

Relative to age it must be BHops. It's easy to be fit when you are in your early 20, it's damn hard when you approach 40.

Wayne McCullough has always looked like a very well conditioned fighter.

1st fighter I thought of when reading this topic, Ricky Hatton. He fights @ a furious pace and just shifting the amount of weight he does in training camp, you need to be fit to do that!

Floyd Mayweather is another. There was a big article in Boxing News last year on his training (I think it was for the Gatti fight), his weight was virtually on par after his first couple of training sessions. He trains very hard!

Pac-man is another one. His physique is tremendous, juts by this you can tell he trains right!

Not always. The time that Spadafora got the better of him in sparring was because PBF was badly out of condition and ran out of steam.

He was coming off a lay-off because of medically documented hand problems.

Also, this was the time he was adjusting between trainers. He left his dad to be trained by his uncle Roger.

While Spadafora was a week out of a fight.

I don't know if this was serious or meant as a joke but, while he isn't the fittest fighter, you'll hardly see Toney lose a fight because he ran out of steam.

I don't see how that in any way contradicts what I said.

Just a little footnote to your comment.
