Next up for Khan?

If rumours are to be believed, it's Jackson Williams:

About whom I know nothing. Although he appears to be at least the same size as Khan, rather than a blown-up super feather.

Anyone know anything about him?

Having had a second glance at his record, I think we can assume he can't punch.

Seems pretty poor to be honest. Again, I don't want to slate him having not seen him, but as you say he doesn't look to have much of a punch, and if he was stopped by McAllister, who is not a renound puncher, then I wouldn't say he'd (on paper) make too much of a fight for Khan.

And whilst it was stupid of the fans at Nottingham to boo at the farce of the last fight, it is in everybodies interests to give Khan a decent test - one who will last 4 or 5 rounds, or get a bit stuck in like Thorpe.

Think you've made that comment before about blown up feather weights. Jackson is in actual fact aout 3 and a half inches smaller than Amir's last opponent, Martynov. For the record and not for the first time, Martynov is not blown up in anyway - he's the same height and weight as Amir.

So why had he done all his fighting in the weightclass below Khan's nominal weight? I don't think you understand the concept of 'Blown-up'. And I wasn't thinking of Martynov anyway, more the likes of Thorpe and Carey.

I think he's a terrific talent, but he needs to fight guys who will punch back. I realise they might be hard to come by at this stage of his career, because no prodigy is ever thrown in at the deep end, and that most traditional opponents are probably unable to last the rounds with a supposed super-talent.

Beating overmatched Eastern Europeans and lighter fighters will do nothing for Khan. Personally, I'd like to see him take on someone like John Honney. Or even poster Dean Phillips: Guys who will come looking to, and more importantly, believing that they can win.

Lets hope he gets a decent test to have a chance at silencing critics.

Well, that's what I'm after. I'm not just knocking him, you know. I want to see just how good he is. And I think it's going to take a decent test for us to find that out. He has to be judged on a different level to other prospects, because of what he achieved as an amateur, and because he looks that good. I hope he turns out to be as good as I think he can be, but we won't learn that from him knocking over guys who don't stand a chance.

Looks about the best sort of opponent they`d risk against Khan
Two out of Jacksons three losses have been by stoppage...against at best average hitters...and the other was a points loss to Anthony Hanna :-?

Once again they don`t want to take any risks with Khans chin...do they know more than we suspect about it

Once again SN copy the Audley Harrison blue print

Hey the forum i am emailing regarding myself Jackson Williams. I am reading the emails and get the suggestion I am a poor fighter for Amir Khan. I think i have good creditals to be fighting Amir, i may not be a puncher as you can see from my record but i have been offered the opportunity and i would be thankfully that you would appreciate and respect myself as a fighter and if i do a bad job then you can mock me as much as you like.

Regards

Jackson Williams

I don't see this as a poor choice, the lad looks as if he can box ok, in his losses he wasn't blown out early, he's beaten a couple of decent experienced guys, so knows his way around the ring. And he hasn't got a knockout punch.

This is the type of opponent i'd have looked for if i was match making.

I don't believe that Khan is a one punch Ko artist, even after his last fight, he relys on his speed and combinations, this takes time to get right in your first few pro fights, he has seemed to be rushing his work a bit in previous fights.

As long as Jackson Williams doesn't freeze, i'd expect this one top go a few rounds.

I have nothing against Mr. Williams and respect anyone who steps into the ring. One slight consern I have is that despite his record we have nothing to assure us of any kind of class in that I have never seen him fight (not sure if anyone else has) therefor it is difficult to measure kahns progress on how he does against an unknown quantity.

All respect to you for taking the fight though mate good luck I hope you put in a good show and get some futour pay days out of it. I also respect you for comming on hear and talking directly to the fans, we could do with more of that in boxing.

He may not hit with huge force, but you don't need to when you have hands as fast as Khan does. The shot he hit the last lad with was a cracker, and he never saw it coming at all. When the fight was stopped, it was clear he didn't have a clue where he was.

Of course, better fighters aren't going to leave a nice hole in their defence for khan to Ram a straight right through, and will use lateral movement, dipping at the waist and head movement to make things more difficult, but if you have fast hands and accurate punch placement, you can hurt anyone.

Yep thats true, I just meant he's not a Benn kind of puncher. A power puncher.
Of course a fast well placed punch can take anyone out of it, the shot you don't see is the one that hurts you.

With all due respect to Jackson Williams, who if I was in the same position would do exactly the same and jump at the opportunity to box Khan, it is a fair enough match but it's not a contest that lets me take Khan's boxing career seriously. As soon as Amir opens up, Williams will do exceptionally well to survive. Knockout artist he may not be, but Khan is far more damaging than Haroon Din or Lee McAllister. It is possibly moving towards a more competitive match than Khan's previous foes, but there's still some way to go.

Believe me Mr Williams, I'll be rooting for the underdog (you)!

I know Khan has come into some critisim for his last opponent, but i see nothing wrong with Williams as the next opponent.
Who would the people that disagree with me like to see Khan facing next, any names?

Jackson Williams

Erm, don't want to pick holes in your post Mr Williams but, I think you may not be the real deal.

Jackson Williams is training as a teacher in sports science, and would probably exhibit better English skills than.

"Hey the forum i am emailing regarding myself Jackson Williams"

or " think i have good creditals to be fighting Amir"

Just a theory, that's all.

"I am" or "I'm" with an apostrophe was required here J.

Is required here J. Sorry - I was using the past tense there when I should have been using the present tense. Yes, we're past tense now, we're living in bungalows these days. This is a mechanical age of course.

Why are you feeling tense. Or were you feeling tents? A bit camp are we?

That's where Scottish soldiers train - at the bit camp.

BTW - did you hear the song about the Irish choropodist? It began:

(In an Irish accent) "My fate is in your hands."

Reminds me of an old joke about an Irish man who lost the middle of his roast beef sandwich in a duck pond and said 'me mate fell in the water' prompting someone to dive in to try and save his non existent friend.
