We've discussed biggest punches/ko's quite a bit, but I was wondering what are your guys opinions on the biggest punches landed but survived by the punchee? I mean like that monster Earnie Shavers landed against Muhammad Ali in the second round of their fight or that Tommy Hearns right hand Marvin Hagler walked through in the first round of their fight. Or even the Joe Frazier left hook that dropped Jimmy Ellis for the first time in their first fight. Yes, Jimmy lost but that shot dropped him like he had been shot.

The left hook Eugene Hart hit Marvelous Marvin Hagler with at the end of the fifth round in their fight in 1976. Eugene Hart is a candidate for the biggest punching middleweight of all time, his best punch being a left hook capable of decapitating a small child, or knocking out Tim Witherspoon in sparring. Hagler took it right on the ear, a place where even a light punch will disorientate you. Hagler barely moved when it hit him.

The overhand right Rodrigo Valdez threw at Carlos Monzon. Valdez is another guy who is a candidate for the hardest hitting middleweight of all time. His right hand was pure dynamite, and he hit Carlos Monzon with it full in the face in the second round of their second fight. King Carlos was floored, but only for a split second, and proceeded to get up and take the fight to Valdez.

Wow the first thing that came to mind was the Frazier hook that hit Jimmy Ellis, I can't even believe that he got up from that and even though he got stopped that was a hellofa shot to get up from.

Going from memory Charles Williams got dropped by Bobby Czyz with quite a shot and proceeded to get up and win the fight.

Julio Gonzalez got up from several big shots from Julian Letterlough and even managed to win the fight.

I would hav to go with the Mugabi uppercut vs Hagler, after which Marvin can clearly be seen saying "motherf...." and the right hand Shavers hit Holmes with. Also, the left hook Manfredy dropped Gatti with.

Ditto! I saw an interview with Holmes where he said that once he got hit he was knocked Unconscience. However, because his head hit the canvas with such force, he was knocked conscience!

Tommy Morrison hit Razor Ruddock with a left hook flush on the chin that took Razor clean off his feet and Ruddock beat the count but was stopped on his feet shortly afterwards.

One of the most remarkable feats of taking some serious, heavy-duty, jaw-breaking, big-time, concusion-giving, put your lights out bombs was when Andrew Golota fought Samson Po'uha. Po'uha landed around ten to twenty clean shots in a row which were just simply massive bombs and although Golota was knocked silly on his feet he was still able to sink his chops into Po;uha's shoulder and actually came back to stop Po'uha. Anyone who has seen this fight knows what I am talking about...it was without a doubt some of the hardest shots that I can ever remember a fighter taking and not going down. Po'uha was fat and out of shape, but he sure as hell could punch.

Weaver surviving that crushing right hand of Coetzee's in round 8 - few heavyweights would of been upright after that shot.

Hearn's ripping left hooks to the body of Barkley - Not only did Barkley take them, he ko'ed Hearns the same round.

Hearns taking the big Roldan left hook in round 4 and then takes Roldan out in the same around.

Pryor taking Arguello's best right hand in the 13th, its a miracle Pryor remained standing after that punch.

Shavers left hook on Ron Lyle which hit Lyle clean in round 2, (although Lyle was down about 14 seconds and should of been knocked out there and then)

That's not true if you count it watching the film Lyle was up by 8.

Douglas got hit with a helluva shot by Tyson in Tokyo. Dragged his rear end up ,the rest is history.

Tyson hit Jose Ribalta with an unbelievable left hook early in that fight and he was knocked down like a bag of bricks. When Ribalta hit the canvas it was almost like someone had plugged him back in because he rose up almost instantly. I was sure he was KOd, but he was resiliant. If you guys dont remember that fight or have never seen it, watch it and you will have a lot of respect for Jose Ribalta! Tyson did win a 10 rnd TKO, but Ribalta took some monster shots that would have put me in a coma!

Anyone got a clip of the Hagler v Mugabi punch?

JC Chavez took some big ones. Most notably from Rosario, who caught Chavez early in the fight with a devastating, head spinning combination while his back was against the ropes.Chavez's reaction or lack thereof made you miss it, until they rplayed it between rounds.

Also, Uncle Mayweather caught Chavez with a hellacious right hand bomb in the second round of the first fight, that sounded like a gun shot. Chavez viciously knocked him out a short time later.

Just saw Earnie Shavers and Tex Cobb on ESPN Classic for the first time and there were several punches that Earnie landed that spun the 232 lb Cobb halfway around and he just turned back around and hit Earnie back.

Roger Rouse surviving Dick Tiger's left hook (can't remember which round, but you'll know it when you see it) and also getting up from the final right hand in the twelfth.

that uppercut klitschko took from lewis was a pretty big shot, lewis had put a lot of big men away like golota and grant with lesser shots than that one.

Holyfield took a huge uppercut from Lewis too.

The one that always stays in my mind was Shavers/Holmes.
The one Ali took from Frazier in their first fight was pretty impressive too. Not just the force of it, but the fact Ali got up so quickly.

Frazier dropping Ali with the big left hook in their first fight. How about the double left hook that Quarry took from Frazier in their 2nd meeting. I think it was about the 3rd round. Of course it was the beginning of the end but it was a damn hard shot to stand up after. How about the shot that John LoCicero absorbed from Caveman Lee but still got up to hurt Caveman before eventually being knocked out that same round.

Frank Bruno against Jumbo Cummings. Still stands out in my mind after all these years.

It's not often you see a guy unconscious but still standing.
