Probably Rocky Marciano. Some others: George Chuvalo, Jeffries, Dempsey. One who was underated in this dept. is Gene Tunney. Fought Greb all those times ,the first time absorbing a helluva beating but kept right on dealing.

Tom Sharkey. Jim Jeffries. Oscar Bonavena. Marciano.

When I think of the word "tough" I think of guys who could dish it out as well as take it. That takes Chuvalo and Tommy Farr off the list as neither was a particularly big hitter. Same with Joe Grim and Tex Cobb.

I dont know Nero,I hear what your saying, but for me, its a guy who you can hit with your best shots round after round and he just keeps coming after ya.Can be very frustrating.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I guess "dangerous" would be a more fitting term. Chuvalo, Cobb and Farr were tough, but not dangerous.

Agreed

tunney is a great call - not an obvious choice but the beating he took in greb 1 holds him up as a real hard case.
frazier is another good but not obvious choice as you think more of him dishing it out, though bonavena hurt him, ali busted him up and foreman demolished him. still a tough cookie.

Ray Mercer and David Tua are the 2 toughest heavyweights of the last 15 years to me
