I saw a couple of his fights at YorK Hall, but lost track of what happened to him after his losses to Sergio Martinez. Has he retired?

Not at all!
I think he thought about packing it in - I sent him a text the other day - he is getting fit again and will be back out soon!. Keep an eye out on the Nicky Cook Euro defence bill!
Hopefully he is back then!

What happened to Richard Williams or what happended to Jawaid Khaliq must be the most recyled posts of this nature.
In my opinion, the short answer is Barry Hearn bollocksed up Williams career!

Sorry to stray from the subject but this Martinez bloke looks ready for a shot at a genuine title, his record speaks for itself, would be nice to see him in with Garcia,Ouma,Mayorga,Karmazin etc etc.

Agree, he is a very decent fighter.
Also Shannan Taylor who got a good hiding from Williams is fighting Arthur Abraham

Martinez looked a very good boxer when he fought over him, looks as if he might be a member of the 'Who needs him club'.
I can't see any of the title holders rushing to defend their title against him.

Dont think it was anything to do with Barry.
Try Richard himself

KO.
Losing to a world class fithter is not bakllksing up your career.
After the Margarito fight - martinez could not get the top boys to fight him - RW gave him an opportunity - that is what boxing is about.
Personally - I think Matchroom should have got Richard the top fights soon after he beat Shannon Taylor.
He is back at middle and he looked strong and precise last time out - hope he does well tomorrow night.

Lets hope SKY get to show him!
