I think Ali's career was prolonged by his time in prison. He was much less ring worn. He'd have still had a great series of fights with Frazier. I still think Joe would have ebaten him at least once. Foreman's career could have been completely different. He'd have gone into a fight with Ali as the underdog if Ali was champion.

Ali would still have been great. There would have been more defences befroe the inevitable defence against Frazier. As I see it though these extra defences earlyu on in his career would have taken something away from his later career.

Louis would have probably have 30 defences of his title.

Tyson would have lost to Holyfield earlier. He'd have got a fight with Lewis much earlier and would probably have fought Bowe.

Ali in Prison? Was he hangin with Monzon? He was sentenced to 5 years, and released on appeal. I'm pretty sure he didn't spend time actually in. Maybe none at all.

Anyone have the specifics? He might as well have been in since no one would license him to fight.

I think he went 10 days in prison, I'll check in his biography why exactly....

Imagine how many defenses Louis would have had if he hadn't joined the army, people often talk of Ali's prime years taken away, and rightly so,but so were Louis's.

How is Walcott relevant to the time lost by Louis?

walcott wasnt even in boxing from 41-43 and didnt become a contender until 1946. and what makes u think walcott would have gotten good training? he didnt even meet up with boccicchio until 45.

walcott and louis fought with walcott at his peak, and louis not and they split 1-1 though louis officially won 2-0. but i give louis the edge since he knocked out walcott in the return fight.

bivins would have been a good fight are u honestly saying he could beat joe louis?

louis was more past his prime than bivins when they fought in 51, and louis gave bivins a boxing lesson over 10 rounds and louis was dehydrated and weak from that fight coming in too low at 203lb.

had there been no title freeze and louis defend his title 43-45, i would expect louis to have probably 40 title defenses.

Are you sure? I thought he was released on bail pending appeal.
