Johnny Nelson has been ruled out of his clash with Enzo, a knee injury apparently!!

Shame, another one of Warrens 'super' undercards in doubt!!!

Will Nelson now retire if so that would mean he would vacate & maybe Enzo could still fight for the title.

i don't want to question Nelson's integrity as I've long admire dhis career. & I know 39 year olds aren't exactly immune to injury. but wasn't Johnny displeased with what he was getting paid, and pissed off at the way Macca was manipulated up the rankings? Add to that he wanted an easy cash in fight vs shot light heavy Michalczewski as opposed to being put in with a hungry young puncher...

i'm not insinuating anything

just checked out the report after posting the above. JN says he'll fight Enzo when he's recovered. Enzo to fight Cantatore is a possibility

I have great respect for Nelson, and he would need to be 100% to beat Macca, so if he says he's injured then i believe him.

I must admit I did wonder as well.

What a shame for Johnny, would have been a good payday for him, I feel that perhaps this fight won't ever happen now, as Macca may look elsewhere.

I'm with you on this one James. Enzo has wasted so much of his career already chasing Nelson, one wonders had he been chasing another title he could of won it by now.

Nelson pulls out now with a legitimate excuse, who's to say something else might not happen next time. Enzo just needs to forget about Nelson now.

I think Johnny is running scared and never really wanted the fight in the first place!!!! I was at a dinner show 2 weeks ago and Nelson was one of the after dinner speakers, on the card there was 10 fights between local youngsters between the age of 12-16.

Nelson did not watch one of these fights and stood at the door on his mobile phone whilst these fights where taking place! and at no point did he go up to any of the young lads fighting and shake there hands tell them how well they had performed or offer any advice.....it would have made there night if he had done any one of the previous.

And to finish off the show his after dinner speach was utter bollocks.....WHAT A LOSER!

Yep, at Nelson's age training injuries will always be a risk, perhaps he pushed himself harder in training for this one and his body couldn't cope with the strain.

Yeah im not keen on the bloke, but that still has nothing to do with the way he went on at the dinner show, it was a disgrace!

It's obvious you have an axe to grind, this has no bearing on the fight, I don't think Nelson was running scared of Macca.

is Mark Hobson stepping in for Nelson??? not bad news if he is

To be honest this fight always seemed too good to be true... always had my doubts about it coming off.... now I suppose theres a good excuse to call of Calzaghe vs Lacy.... very predictable!!!... :box:

Nope that one will happen, and as long as its going to be Macca v Hobson then i'm happy with that as well

Well it does happen, he's no spring chicken after all, plus he's likely to have earnt a lot more for this fight that defending his title against Macca than he would have got for the likes of Cantatore.

I don't see how Nelson was scared, he's fought Thompson, Sanders and Sellers amongst others, all big punchers.
Nelsons' style is all about being mobile , lots of body movement and keeping that up for 12 rounds, if Nelson has a knee injury , he would have been stupid to go ahead with the fight.

Why is it cancelled rather than postponed??...

because Warren has to fill the card, they were chief support, it's not like they are going to rearrange the whole card based around the support fight. Macca goes ahead with his fight as he is one of the chief support.

How many pennies on Calzaghe catching crabs and having to pull out!???... 8) :TU: :box: :box:

Fair point IMO wirthout the needless insults. He should make an effort for the kids. As for not wanting the fight, stupid comment. A kneee ligament, Ambulance trip and three nights in Hospital and six weeks in plaster is hardly a sicknote job is it?

Johnny is a consumate pro, not to everyones taste his style but it suits him.

Wrong to call him a charlie but agree with the other bit.
