Froch v Westerman

Anyone on here think that that Westerman stands a chance?

I've not seen him fight , but from what i've read he is a come foward brawler type of fighter, sounds readymade for Froch.

Westerman has fought at light heavy in his last few fights, so he might just be able to stand up to frochs' sharp punches for a while, I's have to go with Froch in 4-5 rounds

In fact looking at this bill its got to be one of the most one sided ones i've seen in a while.

Carl Froch v Dale Westerman 12
John O'Donnell v Ivor Bonavic 8
Darren Barker v Louis Mimoune 8
Jonathan Thaxton v Abdel Jebahi 8
Steven Spartacus v Magid Ben Driss 6
Dave Stewart v Karl Taylor 4
Lee Meager v Ben Hudson

Waterman's nothing more than a punching bag. Froch is a red hot 33/1 on hot-pot favourite. In a two horse race, that means the other runners missing a leg or something!

Lets just hope Froch dosent claim an injury and squirm out of the Magee fight :box: He's up against it on March 31st and he know's it. Squeezing in this fight with Waterman was pointless and i'm at odds as to why he choose to do this.

I'm looking forward to this defence. Infact it's always good to see Froch back in the Capital, certainly preferrable to watching Magee jab and grab all night  .

Westerman has mixed in some good company and I will confidently predict he brings more to the table than that Canadian guy who challenged Dann last week....and that wasn't a warm up either for a forthcoming British title defence.

So it's Froch who lowering the standard of Commonwealth title fights is it? Adamu was a tough opponent and so is this Australian fellow by the looks of things.

My memory stretches back to Mo Hussien's Commonwealth title fight against Bright Spider and Nigel Benn's against Mike Chilambe.

Froch-Westerman is positively Gold compared to some of the debacles that we've witnessed down the years.

It may turn out to be a good fight, but that will say a lot more about Froch's level than it will about Waterman's.

Magee will give Froch a boxing lesson, i've been shouting this as loud as i can around here since the first inclination that these two would meet. Froch is a hype job, nothing more. All his oponents have been hand picked, that will become obvious when you see Magee whooping his ass.

Frank Maloney agree's with me, he obviously has clear, unblinkered vision just like i have. Thats why he has signed Magee to a four fight deal. The winner gets a European title shot, like me he knows that will be Magee.

I"ve never seen Westerman, but it seems like a good tuneup/stay busy fight for Froch.

Can't work out if that is a brave or foolish pick. I certainly don't think Froch is as good as he thinks he is and I wish he would keep his right up a little more but I think he has got far far too much against Magee who is a little one dimensional. Let's see next month....

I'd favour Magee as well if he can take a shot on the chin this time around unlike the Reid fight which he would of won if he could of stayed upright.

Does anyone know Carl's & Dale's weight?
Cheers

No doubt Froch will win handily, then despite never having fought a world class fighter he'll claim Lacy and Calzaghe are ducking him. :o

Props to Hennesey for getting his boxers cash and a work out, however that is a pretty cack card for the casual fan...

Is anyone else watching this? I just turned it on in round 5. It seems Froch has no defence at all, terrible.

Round 7

Both sluggish, Froch continuing to fight with hands low. Westerman landed a few shots but they both fatigued.

Froch won round 7 I have no idea what happened in first 5.

Froch started the fight very ponderous and was caught out by Westerman. Westerman has slowed down and Froch is starting to take charge even with an injured bicep.

Rd 8 just over with Froch in charge and Westerman tired.

thanks Lvlarc_uk.

I do not want to boast but Westerman's people got DVDs from me on Carl Froch. Also Froch got DVDs of Westerman from me via the Red Dragon so I feel attached to this fight.

It is a real shame that it is not being shown live in Australia.

Thank you very much for your updates.

Ref stops fight halfway through round 9, Froch wins mainly due to Westerman being knackered.

Round 9

Westerman totally drained, Froch lands a few nice shots and ref steps in. All over TKO9

You should have seen the first 3. :o Try & catch the replay tomorrow.

Westerman took those hands down mainly due to Froch keeping his hands down.

I gave Westerman the first 5 and a share of the 6th. Froch took control from there, but more because Westerman was gassed than anything else. Very poor showing indeed from Froch, and I actually fancy Magee to do a number on him after seeing that. The only problem is that Froch has the chin to take his shots, but he doesn't have the chin to take Froch's.

Froch has reached his level I think, I haven't seen Jackson Chanet before but the fact he beat Tsypko makes me think he'd probably beat Froch. Not sure if he'll win a European title. I just don't see what all the fuss is about he is mediocre.

Injured bicep? The Magee fight in danger of being put back now?

I was hardly expecting Corralles-Castillo in there, but my god, that was poor.

Froch was clearly treating that as a warm-up, and jesus, it showed: He looked like a debutant for the the first 3 rounnds, he just looked awful. Westerman looked like like what he was: Nothing special, and overweight at that.

Couldn't agree with Collins and Piper more: Froch is just terrible technically. That doesn't come as a suprise to me, because I'm sure everyone on this forum has been able to see it from Carl's debut. He's just begging to get hit the way he fights. Hands down is dangerous when you have the reflexes of of a Jones Junior or a Hamed. When you lack that, you're asking for trouble.

Is it just me who feels sorry for McCracken, by the way? His advice is bang on the money. Sadly, none of his fighters seem prepared to listen to him. Froch and Eastman are far to happy to ignore him, they seem convinced that they know best. You'd think results would persuade them otherwise.....
