i dont think so....

if he gets barrera then he wont go past 3 rounds

infact the first decent puncher he fights will do what gomez done to him.

the new ken buchanan??? , do not insult that great champion , burns is brave and has decent talent but only at british title level.

arthurs chin is more brittle than brunos

No, he is not world class

I like Alex a lot, he has good skills and is a nice guy. I like wtching him fight.

But he is having to dig deep against virtual novices who cant punch.

Barrera beats him inside 5

Arthur gets hit FAR too often and any world class fighter with a decent punch would knock him out. He has good skills but is far too open to counter punches.

He needs to pick and choose his opponents very carefully and he may win a world title that way ............. but he won't win a world title if he fights one of the big names (e.g, Pacman, Barrera).

I agree, he has been carefully matched since the Gomez loss, and no offence to Burns, but he wasn't ready for Arthur - He's not much more than a novice pro.

When Alex gets in the ring with a banger, it will be all over.

If you throw a left hook you can't miss Arthur, that is how Gomez destroyed him and Burns landed a good few tonight, he simply can't defend against them no matter how hard he tries to improve his defense.

Agree, Arthur is still too one paced and easy to hit.

...the undercard isn't world class, what is this Sprott Vs Palatis shite? Whats happened to Murray Vs Watson?

I thought he did well...maybe not excellent but alot of that must be credited to Ricky Burns who is a very awkward type, and like alot of `non-punchers`he had a solid chin and fitness.

Both are a credit to the game in Britain.

I could not believe ITV were trying to interview McCullough whilst he tended to Alex Arthur between rounds :-? ITV are a bunch of clowns :x

Arthur is decent Europeon class but it would be madness to put him in with Barrera or Manny... he's not true world class, no matter how many times John Rawling tried to tell us he is.
To compare him with Buchanan or even Jim Watt, is a nonsense!....

I don't see the problem with Arthur, someone said 'could you imagine him in with Pacman'.

yes i can , he may not win , but if he stayed outside of Pacmans big punches early he could cause alot of problems.

Pacman is a different class to 99% of super feathers.

I was pleased to see that Arthur has lost some of the arrogance of pre Gomez days, but I can't say it was a performance that made me consider him world class

First of all, he took too many punches on the way in which, from a less feather fisted fighter, would have lead to the same result as in the Gomez fight. True he was not as reckless and he took over in the second half of the fight, but he was in with a novice.

At 27, I can't see him improving greatly beyond this. I am sure he can be moved towards a world championship, but not sure he can hold on to it for long.

As for Burns, a decent performance for a 14th fight, but with such light punching power, I can't see a huge future for him

If he improves his punching technique and gets it half as easy as other prospects for once, then I can see a huge future for him.

Manny would completely steamroll Arthur, if Arthur was bothered by the brave but rather limited Burns, he has no chance against the likes of Manny... it would be a onesided beating...

Manny is the top of the division so there is no embarrassment if he did get steamrolled, Pacman steamrolled Barrera and Morales

But not all the champions out there are as good as any of that trio so Arthur may just grab a title, and I for one really hope he does because he is an excellent ambassador for the game.

Whats with all the ITV talk of Arthur fighting for Barrera's vacant title when he moves up?

Surely if MAB vacates then the Morales/Pacquiao fight would be for the WBC title, being #1 and #2 in the rankings. Arthur would then fight Javier Jauregui in an eliminator.

They could be have been talking about the IBF title, but I assumed the WBC due to Arthur's higher ranking.

Who was the guy sitting at ringside between the guy in the red top and the Stuart Pearce lookalike (with glasses). I thought it resembled the comebacking Barry Jones. Was it him?

If Jones is as before his retirement, then Arthur vs Jones would be very interesting - Jones is better than Burns, far more elusive.

I think his chin is ok, its his defence that is horrible...

I didn't like that thing that Arthur did that every time he got caught with a good shot he winked down at his corner, just reminded me of the guy who pounced back up after getting creamed by Gomez and acting like he wasn't hurt.

Anyone who can throw a solid left hook is going to knock him out. He's like Froch in that he thinks he's better than he is and that his chin will hold up to anything, but when he steps up to a higher level he is undoubtedly going to get his ass handed to him.

Barrera beats him inside 5

I would have to agree with the above... however, Alex has not fought anyone like Barrera, Pacquaio, Morales etc. Like every fighter however, Arthur should be given the opportunity to fight these guys, it's only fair & right!

Wayne McCullough has stated would be confident putting Alex into a showdown against any of the top guys @ 9st 4lbs. IMO, Pacquaio would stop Arthur inside 5rounds... against Burns, Alex got hit with punches he should not have, & this is @ european, not world level!

Alex Arthur vs Scott Harrison @ 130lbs.... Now that's an intriguing fight! Harrison is moving up to Super-feather after taking on Guzman. I'm not discrediting Guzman, becuase he's a top challenger, a serious threat to Harrison, but I expect the Scot to win.

How do you guys think a fight between Arthur-Harrison would fair?

Arthurs power rocks Harrison a couple of times but due to Harrisons relentless pressure and a left hook developed in training he stops Arthur in the mid rounds.

Dude, he was only bothered by Burns in Rounds 2 and 3 which were the only rounds I thought Burns won.

Howcome some think Burns troubled him a bit? Arthur won easy accept for the 2nd and 3rd.

Burns was catching him on and off all night, and this is, with respect a 13 fight novice... if Barrera or Manny were throwing those punches Arthur would have been lucky to get past 5 rounds. Arthur is still far too static and one paced and takes far too many shots. He'd do well to forget about world titles for another couple of fights and instead defend the titles he has and try and improve before he steps up to full world class.....

He might have a chance against Barrios or Nagy, but the true elite level guys like Marquez, Barrera and Pacquiao will destroy him. He isn't even close to their P4P level quality.

It was painful to watch, esp when Wayne went back to talking to Alex and the stupid bloke stuck the mic in his face again and interupted him! Can you imagine for example someone trying to interview Alex Ferguson whilst he was giving a half time team talk? The corner shouldn't have let him near them to even try it, was too Hollywood (Vegas) on their part
