Did anyone see between the rounds the itv man go up on the apron and tried to interview wayne mccullough while he was trying to give arthur advice. if i was wanye i would of told him to f Off.

Yup, that was totally out of order

ITV were doing a relatively decent job on the day until that occurred. Totally unprofessional.

imagine if burns went down and he came up for a interview.

" well burns you are currently trying to get up for a knockdown, do you feel allright and do you think you can back from this"

Sky did something similar on a couple of occasions but at least they waited until the fighters were out of their corners and interviewed trainers while the round was in progress.

The only thing worse was the McGuigan-McKenzie post-fight discussion, which I'm amazed hasn't been dumped by now. What is wrong with ITV? First the Tactics Truck and now this shite. Does nobody in their company know how to put a decent sports programme together?

Yes, I'm not sure who fault it was. They tried to do it the round before, but I was thinking - oh bit of sense, they are going to do it during the round, but no - they tried again.

Wayne handled it well, focused on Alex and kept his cool.

It was a very stupid and unprofessional thing to do.

They must have checked that it was ok with the corner before they did it. Seemed a totally unprofessional thing for Wayne to allow imo. all trying to be a bit too hollywood, what if the mic had hit Alex and caused a cut? what if wayne had failed to spot a problem because he was talking to the interviewer?

Really poor from both parties, whilst some of itv production is ok the rest is complete crap

I don't think Waynes body language showed it was his idea, his answers were very rushed and not really coherent so he could quickly get back to Alex.

I think Lenny Albert is on the mark here. I can't believe anyone would interupt a corner tending to their boxer without prior permission.

Whatever the score, is was very tasteless.

I hear that Wayne had agreed to be interviewed during the fight, but like everyone else, he was expecting it be during the round, not between rounds.

That clueless plank shouldn't be let near a boxing ring again. I'm sure the Board will be asking for an explanation too.

Very good point. I think the board SHOULD have a word with all parties about this as it could lead to a trainer being distracted and putting a fighter at risk.

They do that on espn all the time, nothing wrong with that whilst the round is in progress.

Nope, they never have. Don't quite know why. Even with their football coverage they used to sometimes get a studio line-up that on-paper blew the BBC out of the water yet in my opinion the BBC always seemed to deliver the slicker better coverage.

Too true. The McGuigan and McKenzie bit on the ITV shows appears to me to have come from the football, I thought this while watching McCoist and Townsend at pitchside last night for the Champions League coverage. McCoist and Townsend together works well, but the format does not work for the boxing. Neither McGuigan or McKenzie has anything like the charisma required to carry off something like that.

The only thing that saves ITV from producing regular crap is if the contests themselves are of a good standard. Everthing outside of the decent boxing is shite IMO.

Also at halftime in the football they had a Skelton v Williams advert then Gaby Logan (yes I'd bang it) said "the winner of that fight goes on to a world title shot in the summer". More bullshit!

During the Liverpool game they mentioned that Danny Williams and Amir Khan would be fighting on Saturday but then thankfully informed us not against each other

As a host I don't think Jim Rosential is that bad and Barry does a good job alongside him and there are a lot worse commentators than John Rawling (have we forgotten Neilly already?) but as much as I like Duke he isn't a commentator and obviously struggles, the interviewer is rubbish even before he starts interrupting corners between rounds, fighting talk is embarrassing and the shows general layout leaves a lot to be desired.

why not just look at how sky do it and copy that? and where's the old music gone?!?!

What they need to do is bring in the younger generation so lets go all MTV stylie. Have the presenter and panel all be women, never over 20. They could call the likes of Michael Gomez on how his boxing trunks are a big fashion no-no and anytime someone gets their nose broke they could reccomend a good cosmetic surgeon.

Not to mention all the cool reality themed parts of the program we could have where the boxers annoying kids become side characters and if they're popular enough could eclipse their fathers screen time. Then we wrap it all up by clipping the fights cause we all know the younger generation has a short attention span and then we splice the highlights with the personal diaries of the boxers.

The judges at ringside are Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and some generic queer guy. I smell ratings.
