Unliscenced boxing question....

Couple of questions regarding the unliscenced boxing scene that some of you may or may not be able to answer. Any help would be very gratefuly received.

1) Should I (for example) enter an unliscenced boxing ring without signing any forms and injure someone / get injured where do I / other person stand legally and insurance wise?
If that person said "hang on i thought this was for untrained (or semi pro) fighters but it turns out he's a former pro boxer Im suing him / going to the police" what happens.

Does anyone know ?

If its unlicenced surely you won't have any legal/insurance rights as its an illegal fight. Pro/Semi Pro - it doesn't matter if you lie its the underworld. Its like a drug dealer going to the police because his supplier gave him 4lbs of Crack instead of the agreed upon 5lbs

Unlicensed boxing is just not official with the BBBC, these celebrity boxing and white collar boxing are, as far as I know, no more legit than early Fwank Warren shows.

You may not be insured with the BBBC but you will not face legal prosecution any more than a licensed show if you were to injure somebody.

Stupid comment.

Unlicensed boxing is no more illegal than 'licenced Boxing.

The Board are a self appointed body who administer and put safety provsions and insurance in place. They are NOT government backed in any way.

The unlicensed scene from a legal standpoint is exactly the same. You go in to both with your eyes open.

Guess they will just say you should have been more carefull in your match making  how many times as similar happened in amateur boxing..when a raw novice gets chucked in with an experienced boxer fighting with a new card.

so the general consensus is there is no insurance or legal implications if I (for example) were to give someone a hiding in an unliscenced boxing match.

Unless I’m misinterpreting things, there does sound like a fine line between an unlicensed boxing match and a streetfight. What exactly is the difference? Whilst the former may be setup as a “boxing match”, surely the fact it isn’t licensed suggests there is all the scope in the world for it to descend into something else.

So what makes a fight legal? Is 2 Parties agreeing sufficient - surely there needs to be insurance and contracts.

Didn't the police stop celebrity boxing?

A lot of unlicensed shows are just like normal boxing shows, they're just not sanctioned by the BBBoC.

No, form memory FW had something to do with it, ruling is nobody over a certain age can fight amateur, both gervais and bovey were over the age limit and i think thats where somebody interviened in the celeb boxing. The celeb boxing still goes on (was rhino michael carrol the latest one? followed by a celeb womens boxing???), as does unliscenced and failry openly. As long as the fire regs etc.. are met in the venue and both parties are willing there is nothing illegal about the staging of it.

A friend of mine will be fighting, his missus is worried about insurance complications if he were to get hurt or if the other guy (more likely as this friend has a fairly solid pro record) were to be hurt and attempt to sue or press legal charges. The worrying thing is it appears to be a bit of a tin pot set up and Im not so sure if some of the guys should be fighting some of the other guys. Serious mis matches in my opinion (just my opinion). Big difference between being a bit of a lad after a few beers and putting gloves on.

No none.

I think that for an unlicenced event to be legit though, there has to be medical staff at the ready, but that is an issue for the promoter, not the fighters.
