George Hillyard - Ernie Smith 2

I take it this got cancelled because Ernie will be too heavy? At first I thought it was because he'd fought recently... but I see now he's scheduled to fight in the Midlands on the same date (tomorrow), at Middleweight.

George looks a quality prospect from London - looks like he can fight - and I was really looking forward to seeing this on the undercard tomorrow. Especially as boxrec has it listed as a Welterweight bout - where George should be from what I've seen. If he could beat Ernie cleanly, while giving away weight, it would be the ribbon on the cake to all those claims that he lost the first encounter because of being fleshy/fighting messy. If he were to stop Ernie that would be a helluva statement.

It can be done... Ricky Burns, a super-featherweight, stopped George's replacement opponent, light-welter Gary Harrison, in the first round back in 2002... in Harrison's last fight.

I haven't seen anything from George to suggest he can be a big name. Over-rated. He is arrogant and I hope he loses again.

None of you London guys see any potential in this lad? I thought he could be decent with the proper dedication. Though I suppose it's not too surprising to see no interest in him, with future World Champions like Carl Froch and David Haye making all the headlines.

He's not exactly a quality prospect though is he - If you want to use the word prospect aginst his name, then put the word undiciplined before it.

On saying that he has potential, but he needs to get fitter, and have more respect for the fight game once inside the ropes.

He may look good in the gym but its totally different in once you step throught the ropes. If he can't beat Smith convincingly then he is no prospect. Like has been said I hope he gets beat again. His problems are arrogance, overweight, lazy, no real power...actually why is anyone calling him a prospect?

It's used mainly for white-collar boxers. I think George helps out there and does a bit of training whilst he's there.

You should go. It's a nice gym, and you may get a WC fight.

Yeah man, it's white collar. I don't know too much about the boxing because I do Thai and submission wrestling there...

But I always watch the boxers before we start... I think there's a class there at 6 most days - a quick hour, but it looks like (exhausting) fun. They also have open sparring on Thursdays and Saturdays, I think.
