and a very agurate puncher cook looked if he was feared to throw the big punches unless to the body not enough at top level but cook is good not world level just now but they say stiles make good bout and they look a good match

I think Cook Vs Dunne would be more interesting. There's been talk of it a couple of times and I view it as a 50/50 fight. I think Dunne is a better fighter overall but I feel Cook would beat him due to the sheer size advantage, Dunne would look tiny in the ring with him I think.

Carl Johanneson to beat Arthur is the talk at the moment.

I think Cook vs. Arthur would actually be a decent domestic clash (neither of them are, or will ever be, true world class). I could see Arthur edging it, but it would be a good fight. Throw Dunne in against the winner and you've got a nice little series of matches to work with.

Alex Arthur wins IMO

Arthur is just a better fighter than Cook in every department.

I don't see Dunne moving to super feather if Arthur wins and I don't see Arthur moving down to feather. Dunne has a pretty small frame and actually looks very comfortable at super bantam which is why I think Cooks size would be a factor if Dunne stepped up to face him. A fight with Hunter would be more ideal for Dunne in terms of fighting someone his own size who fits right into his style but a Cook fight would still be interesting.

EDIT: Funnily enough I just checked to see that Dunne is an inch taller than Cook but he looks so much smaller in comparison.

I was very disappointed with Cook last night I have never seen what all the fuss is about. He has to push for a fight against Koshimoto because he is a weakest belt-holder in the division but even then I wouldnt back Cook to beat him

I can see Dunne putting enough weight on his frame, but you're right in one sense, it'd be pointless for him to do so because he would most likely lose anyway. He's better off down at super bantam for the time being.

Can't see Arthur vs. Cook happening anytime soon either, but hypothetically it's an interesting fight.

Burns vs Limond anyone?

I'd like to see Burns Vs Docherty but Limmond would be good as well.

I have been watching the forums on this site a few weeks and you english guys really know your boxing.

Ive seen Alex Arthur on showtime. He is good technically but seems to fight to his opponents level.

Who is this guy Nicky Cook?

Nicky Cook is the EBU champion at Featherweight with a 26-0 record and a potential world title fight on the horizon. He seems to be targeting Koshimoto but in my opinion he is a notch short of world class.

I think he would beat Koshimoto though, who isn't a formidable looking champion that Chi looked against Brodie. Think he is 35-36 now too. I had Chi winning by a round or two i think if my memory serves me right. Cook can edge him i think.

I couldn't see him beating feather champ (in my eyes) Marquez though.

Very true, that. Happens a lot with British fighters nowadays for some reason. Carl Froch is another one who does it. I reckon they'll both get a rude awakening when they step up, though..

Oh, and I reckon Burns vs. Limond would be an excellent 12 rounder for the purists. I really like watching both guys fight, even though neither of them has a knockout punch. Weird.

I think Arthur is too classy and too powerful for him. Though Alex hasn't been showing the power much recently. Ruiz, Sinistin and Burns were all boxers and were outboxed. But the one guy in the last 4 who was KO'd was Craig Docherty who has a much more aggressive style. I think Cook would come looking for Alex and would get taken apart by Alex's classy counters. Good matchup though.

Nicky Cook is an up and coming British prospect - not sure he'll get past European level, some people reckon he might.

In my day you had to rely on out of date magazines. I just watch fights on TV now and help out amatuers in my spare time.

I used to follow your career through magazines like Ring and KO and often wondered what happened to you after you retired.

Even though none of your fights were shown in the UK ( like a lot of the lighter weight fighters at that time before satellite ) there were plenty of fight fans over here who got hold of tapes of your fights - usualy pretty spectacular knockouts I remember.

Didn't you have something to do with another great fighter out of California, Little Red Lopez? Same manager maybe? I think people used to compare you to Danny Lopez: both big punchers and came off the canvas a few times to win.

Yes a massive fight here next weekend: Joe Calzaghe v Jeff Lacy.
Might have come 2 years too late for Joe, but I'm hoping he might have enough left to take care of the big hitting Lacy.
Not a fight I'd bet too much on though - just about evens over here.

Showtime have it live and we get to see it at the weird time of 2.30 AM in the UK.

Thanks for your kind words. I love boxing, you know and being involved with the kids is the next best thing to fighting. It helps me keep in shape too. I weigh about 150 nowadays

Bennie Georgino was my manager and he was involved with a lot of LA and San Fernando guys like Lopez and may have promoted Bobby sometime but i cant recall exactly. Bennie used to arrange lots of sparring for me with Danny and Bobby. He was a good manager and that helped me keep nearly every dime i fought for. I think Bennie is still involved in boxing in Washington.

Going back to your big fight Calzaghe seems to have been around for years. If he still has a full tank he will be too sharp for Lacy, who looked good against pemberton. But pemberton was on his last legs he looked shot to me. I doubt Pemberton will fight again after the Lacy fight.

I agree with you on Lacy. I think he's been matched quite carefuly for a world champ going into a unification - and if it turns out Joe's legs are gone, well they've matched him well again.
Usually, allegedly makes the matches at the right time for his fighters - and maybe he thinks get Lacy now, before he gets better - we'll soon know.

What's your take on Amir Khan? Has he been shown in the US since the Olympics? He's making waves in the UK, pulling in huge viewing figures and has non boxing fans talking about him too.

No testing fights for him so far, but they're keeping him busy.

I think Cooks gone a bit backwards. A while ago I was impressed with him. But these last few fights somethings gone wrong and he hasn't looked as good. I think after he won that Euro title...
