You final score of the Williams-Skelton Fight please....

Hi gents,
every-so-often we, as the hardcore-fight-fans who score a lot of bouts, find ourselves viewing a fight where we feel we are the only person on the planet who sees it as we do. I think that last night was my turn (mind you, it's been a while since I had Morales a comfortable winner of Barrera in their first fight against most public opinion).
I thought Skelton took the fight by a clear margin = 116-112.
Your score please?

Williams by at least one or two rounds. Too many illegal blows from Skelton............

I scored it to Skelton 116-115. Scored the last round 10-9 to Williams.
I accept that you could take a different view and score it a draw or to Williams by one point but can't see how Parris made it 116-113.

Either 8-4 or 7-5 Williams. Skeleton wasn't landing much clean and Williams landed just about everything clean. Walking forward, wrestling and throwing punches that you miss does not mean you win the round. On a boxing forum people you'd think people would see that.

Yeah I had the same. Can't remember the scoring rd by rd, but I had Skelton two ahead going into the last, and gave Williams the final round.

I thought Skelton edged it, but I would have been happy with a draw.
These 2 guys are evenly matched & none of them really deserved to lose.
There should be a rematch.

I had £200 on Skelton to win on points.
Was pretty sure he'd done enough.
Skelton is ugly, awful and terrible. But he won the fight in my view.
Absolutely sick as a pig.

Watched it last night in a pub with the sound off, so wasn't scoring, but it looked about even to me, going into the last.
Wouldn't have been surprised if it went either way though.
Good to see two British heavies actualy trying to win though, after the Audley non event.
Rematch going by Frank's reaction after. You mean he didn't have a world title fight lined up for the winner after all??!!

Although I don't understand your last sentence, I just need to post in defence of 'Skeleton'. On second thoughts, I can't be bothered.
8-4 Williams? Ye Gods.

I had it the same Ian, I thought that so much of Skelton's aggression was totally ineffective, he did land a few meaty blows, but they were very few and far between and he did more wrestling and elbowing than he did clean punching.
Blimey mate, 200 nicker, I had Skelton favourite, but not by the kind of margin that would have led me to bung 200 on him.
Either man will get horrifically embarassed at world level, though I doubt either is in the runninhg for a shot anyhow, Williams would lose even to Valuev. He just cannot sustain the pace required to win a fight on points against someone with the size and jab of Valuev.
Williams is totally delusional about his conditioning, he is as vast and immobile as an oak treen at the ridiculous weights he is entering the ring at, christ Skelton was sidestepping and turning him, and nobody is ever going to mistake Matt for Wayne Sleep (on a number of counts), which really says a lot about Danny's footwork. I'm surprised that there weren't ringsiders getting sucked into his gravitational field in the ring.

From where I was sitting , I thought Williams won by 2 rounds although people sitting next to me thought Skelton had it. But I think Danny looked class when he stuck to the Jab skelton couldent get near to him.
A cracking scrap

I rarely have a bet these days. When I do I tend to lump on. He was 11/4 Jim which I thought was great value. I thought Skelton would win a close one. In fact, the fight went EXACTLY how I thought it would...except the fornicating decision went the wrong way. So you can see why I'm more gutted than usual. You actually make the right call and get shafted royally anyway. Only in boxing.
What makes me particularly mad about Williams is the self-delusional aspect you mention. Boxers tend to have absolutely no self-awareness when it comes to their own limitations but Williams abuses the privilege. The shit he comes out with is unreal. This is a man who was demolished by Samil Sam for fornicate's sake. And was on the receiving end of the most sustained, one-sided beating I've ever seen in a ring. And was, to all intents and purposes, beaten (only in my view unfortunately) by possibly the most crude heavyweight I've ever seen be a British champion.

that's how i had it.
lots of debateable rds.
skelton's work was very messy and in some close rds i preferred williams clener punches.

It was a difficult fight to score - there were a lot of close rounds that could have gone either way. However, I had Skelton winning by at least 2 rounds.

The fight was close but maybe you saw Skeletons better moments and didnt see Danny good moments because you had money riding on it. If you want to look at it again on tape (without the biased commentary) and look at actual punches Skeleton landed you'll see there arent that many -
Skeleton walked forward and pushed Danny to the ropes but Danny was actually connecting with counters while Skeleton missed or scuffed. Skeleton had 2 very clear rounds 3-4 (I thought Danny had ran out of steam then) but after that it was close or a clear Danny round.
Don't know what your talking about - Danny delusional and talking shit? About what exactly? All I heard hm say is he dreams of been world champ - against Valuev/Rahman/Toney/Wlad/Byrd/Brewster he stands a good shot. Not the favourate in most of those but you'd give him a good shot.
Against Samil Sam Danny had shingles? No I havent got a clue what it is but its supposed to debilitating (sp).
If Danny got down to 250 he'd be a world class HW lets hope he trains and eats properly

I thought Skelton won it clearly. I'd go with 116-112/113. Having said that I watched it in a pub and in the past after re-watching fights at home I may change my thinking. At least they had a go after the "Ordinary" shambles. But both would be totally outclassed at World level.

I had it a draw.
Tip my hat to both Williams and Skelton who both gave 100%
Much better fight for ITV than the Audley Harrison showing which was inept, embarrassing and quite franky, laugahble.
If the promoters out there want to do something for boxing make sure that Audrey Harrison is never allowed in a british ring again.
I am very proud to say that I have never ever paid to watch Harrison and I never will.

Danny isn't world class, simple as, he would be better at 250, but he just isn't that good. He has virtually no head movement and has always had a very porous defence, even when he has his hands up he gets hit straight through his guard.
As a fighter he should be giving his best effort in training for EVERY fight, if he has any serious ambitions.
I think Danny likes the idea of being a world champion, but he isn't prepared with the level of dedication required to make it so.
As for the shingles, maybe he did, and maybe he didn't, but the fact is, Danny has been a lazy trainer for a long time now, as evidenced by his gradually escalating weight over the years. In 1995, Danny weighed as a 23 year old 227 lbs. As a 32 year old he is weighing consistently around the 265 lb mark.
Is it any coincidence that against Sanil Sam he weighed a whopping 258, two whole stone heavier than he weighed for Keith Long? He was then 245 for Mirovic. Such massive fluctuations in weight are very unusual for even for a heavyweight.
By contrast, Lennox Lewis, who in retirement is over 300 lbs and is a huge bloke, started his career at 231, and the most he ever weighed was 256, some 15 years later as a 38 year old man. For the second fight with Rahman, he only weighed 246, a level of dedication and committment to the cause we can only dream about from Danny.
I would put money on any of the current belt holders beating Danny with ease. I was deluded before the Klitchsko fight, intoxicated by the manner of his win over Tyson, but after seeing the absolute battering he took from Vitali, I realise now that Danny is well short of world class mentally, physically and in terms of talent.

I watched this pissed as a twat in newcastle!!!
To me Skelton shaded it but would not argue either way - anyway both were poor!!!
I was monged and randomly texted my whole phone book slagging both fighters off!!
Apologies to anyone on the end of my rant!!!

True, he never has been world class and he never will be. He's a very good domestic Heavy, thats all. Probably on a par`with Gary Mason and below Bruno, and certainly below Cooper and Bugner.
Lets face it, a completely and utterly washed up Tyson had him in all kinds of trouble before running out of steam.
