The words " Fly swatter fending off a lion." come to mind. McDonagh as always is fired up but he has virtually no power. Can he stay away for 12 rounds? I don't think so. McDonagh is so aggressive aswell but DAMN only 6 knockouts in 27 wins. Anyway it should be good....while it lasts.

I take it all back. Absolutely nothing happened in that round. If thats anything to go by McDonagh is either there to mug or survive. Of course it is only round 1.

Yeah this is pretty shit. I guess McDonagh is fighting the only fight he can.
This will be the highlight of his career. The real big let-down for me is Alexander. He looks disinterested and has hardly landed a punch. Pretty pathetic display from Wayne. Any pretentions he had for world level are gone no matter what happens now.
I see this ending via one sided points win for McDonagh. Thats unless Wayne lands a Hail Mary shot but at the moment he couldn't find his arse with both hands so I doubt it.

How much does Duke love Wayne Alexander. He shouldn't be commentating clearly wants his hometown friend to win.

Alexanders corner should have had him going to the body from the start instead of just the last half of the fight.

Terribly dissapointed in McDonagh, his performance reminds me of Junior Witter vs Zab Judah - but Alexander is no Judah and McDonagh has had time to prepare.

I have Alexander a mile infront and its been McDonagh who has thrown this away, Alexander is so there for the taking for any of the domestic Light Middles.

I think Alexander is terribly one dimensional and predictable, he can be seriously outboxed, he just looks for the big shots. One of the most exciting parts of the fight was trying to understand what was being said in his corner :P

And a final point...was Rawling on commission for how many times he mentioned the WBU last night? Flip me don't give these lowlifes credence by mentioning over and over on national TV, you will never get bloody rid of them! Duke kept saying "the champion this and the champion that"...."you have got to take the title away from the champion". First of all i think thats rubbish, like Jim Watt says you should just score each round as you see it and tot the scores up at the end...especially if it's the WBU at stake, who gives a shit anyway?

I didn't mind it either and although I thought he never bottled it (he was dropping his hands, pretending to be wobbled etc not the sign of somebody who's bricking it) he certainly fought overly cautious as if he caught a re-run of Alexanders KO of Takaloo beforehand or something. He has quick hands not much power but he can rack up the points no problem when he attacks. I thought he was on his way to a points win as apart from the later stages (when McDonagh started to run and hold too much without throwing anything back whatsoever) I only gave Alexander round 3.

Was very miserable... could only keep asking myself how easy Takaloo would have beaten Alexander if he'd just kept his cool and picked him off. Wayne looked like he was cacking his pants jumping up and down waiting for the decision to be read out in 'Storm in a Tea-Cup's' home town.

One last big fight and out for the Croydon cruncher before some domestic fighter finally wipes the floor with him.

They should put McDonagh's fights on last after the main events.

It would help clear out the areas quicker.

What Wayne needs is someone to stay in front of him so he can zap him. God only knows what Winky & DLH would do to him.

An Alexander who had someone to bang out would have been great TV.

Alexander deserves some credit, he beat a very slippery unbeaten fighter who didn't want to get invloved. His overall conditioning was decent too.

Yeah, full credit to Wayne for getting his career going again after that nasty Delroy Mellis loss. It really did look like it could be Game Over when Sky showed him clopping off alone between the half-empty aisles. I think he's been training with John Breen since the Takaloo fight? I predicted the Margate fighter there, but when Wayne appeared for his ringwalk I was shocked by his fitness and started to have major doubts. It was his fitness that got him through that one... and, IMO, every fight since then. Well done to him.

It was McDonagh that pissed me off on Saturday. I was expecting him to mostly run, but he looked like he was going to take no chances, and I've never been able to stand that clowning he does... unfortunate to say about a 25+ unbeaten fighter, but I really hope that's the last he gets on TV. Bumping up hometown undercards for his faithful would seem to be his only use now, cause I can't imagine any casual fan having any real interest in seeing him again after the weekend.

McDonagh is a complete clown. Mickey Vann blew the fight completely, he should have thrown Thomas out of there by about the eight round. The guy must have been on a career best purse and boxes like that on live national TV against Britain's number 1 at the weight. What a cock!

In Wayne's defence it would be nearly impossible for anyone to look good against someone of McDonagh's ability choosing to box the way he did, which was run, fire a couple of punches and then clinch at every opportunity.

I know Takaloo got blasted into orbit but at least he had a go, even if it was a very brief go. McDonagh will be a very unwelcome sight in a boxing ring again.

Warren should deliver big for Wayne now.
