British boxing might be on the up again!!!!

2 consecutive weekends of great fights in the UK; things are looking good for us Brits!!!!
I was really down & upset in December, when Audley Harrison almost singlehandedly killed British boxing & I thought we have to wait for Amir Khan to live up to the hype before we could smile again, but then Danny Williams decides to get himself in shape for the 1st time since 1981
& along with Skelton put on an entertaining show last week.
This week Enzo Maccarinelli & Mark Hobson put on a decent scrap, which was then followed by Calzaghe's masterclass against Lacy.
The only downside is that Calzaghe is 34 & doesn't have too long left in reality. I wish he was 27 or something!!!!!

Anyone else notice the similarities in style between Khan and Calzaghe?

Good call.
They do fight similarly these days.
JC has a tendency to slap sometimes, probably a legacy of his fragile hands, because he used to be quite a powerful puncher.
I think Amir does the same, but his is primarily down to inexperience & the fact that he tries to punch so quickly all the time.

bit disappointed with the lack of news about the fight today. absolutely nothing on garry richardson's radio 5 sportsweek programme this morning. they've always done a bit on the big fights and this time they did sod all on it. :x
hopefully the newspapers give calzaghe a few back pages tomorrow.

It was interesting to note last night that an old dog can learn new tricks, because Calzaghe corrected his one flaw as a fighter (the same flaw that Khan is showing right now); i.e. leaving his chin high and exposed when he throws flurries of shots. He kept it nicely tucked in at all times, and that's why even when Lacy caught him he never once looked hurt or phased. Let's up Amir can learn from that as he steps up in class.

Definitely.
He needs to tuck that chin in soon.
Sadly, he may only realise this when he gets put on the seat of his pants.
