I thought Lacy would win, & win by TKO. How wrong I was :(

However, I am extremely happy for Joe Calzaghe, who produced the finest performance I've ever seen by a British fighter. Everything worked perfectly for Calzaghe.

Lacy had no answer to Joe's accuracy, speed, movement, mobility, ring smarts i.e. spinning Lacy around etc. Joe's jab was piston-like, fast & sharp. The jab set everything else up. The sheer volume and accumilation of punches from JC completely over-whelmed Jeff Lacy.

The uppercut worked a treat all night for Joe, and I feel this was a punch that he had obviously worked on in the gym, preparing for the fight. I am quite staggered @ how it seemed so easy/straigh-forward for Calzaghe at times, or even throughout the entire fight!

allegedly said he felt it was the best performance by a British fighter in history, do you all agree with this & if you do not, what performance do you feel deserves such an accolade?

Lastly, I will never doubt J.C. again! People might say I'm getting too carried away with what I'm about to say, but I feel Joe will beat any fighter @ 168 or 175lbs in the world today!

Many congratualtions to J.C. & Enzo Calzaghe; they both did it their own way, and it paid off for them yesterday, big-time! Joe deserves some bumper-paydays now. I hope FW can deliver some big, big fights! I cannot wait to see Calzaghe back in the ring, and I hope it's sooner rather than later i.e. he fights @ least twice more this year!

I dunno about best British performance but one thing I know for sure is that It's been a long time since I have felt so proud of British Boxing.

I knew Calzaghe had the skills to Unfiy, but I thought he was a coward who had wasted the best years of career, happy to do a "Sven Otke", hand-picking mediocre opponents to keep his record intact.

Clearly, this is not the case. I was wrong. He turned up for the fight and brought his A-game too. Respect to him and his father.

He's always been an excellent fighter and I'm really chuffed because he owed it, above all, to himself to put on a performance like that and I know he's not a loveable character like Bruno but he's been a quality champion and it's a shame it took 8 years and 17 defences before he got the plaudits he's receiving today.

That was as scintillating a one-sided fight I can remember since watching Roy Jones outspeed the crap out of James Toney.

Joe did it all - outjabbed him, outpunched him, kept his range beautifully... this is why I fancied Lacy... Joe's got himself tagged close-up recentlyagainst Mitchell and Salem and just had this horrible feeling Lacy would land a short hook that would take Joe out or hurt him enough to give Lacy the chance to win...

But as we saw, Lacy just wasn't in Joe's class and bless him, took the kind of beating that ruins a fighter forever. Lacy's aura of invincibility is a thing of the past now and at 28, he's not going to improve IMHO... I just hope he is okay because his corner need shooting for letting the man endure that last four rounds. Look at what happened to poor Leavander Johnson for heaven's sake.

Anyway - well done Joe Calzaghe... if he can land another couple of scalps and world titles to his collection this year, who knows, we'll have another Brit on the front of Ring magazine's fighter of the year issue.
