Was anyone else screaming for Lacy to be stopped?

Amazing performance by Calazage and I'm pleased I predicted a fight right for once.
Did anyone else think watching this fight was like watching Mayweather-Gatti. In the 7th he got hit big was out on his feet and taking combinations very reminicent of the end of Delahoya-Vargas. But the referee let it go on and he recoe somewhat to go back to been a sitting duck. This happened time after time and was pretty sad. Lacy looked like collapsing 5times.
I think Lacy will be destroyed by this beating. I was worried I'd log on this morning to find he'd slipped into a coma - it really seemed that bad. I think he will suffer some sort of brain damage. Unnecessary beatings are bad for boxing and the ref and and the corner need to protect fighters.
The referee and Lacys corner were a disgrace.
OH DOES ANYONE HAVE THE PUNCH STATS. CALAZAGE SEEMED TO THROW 1000+ punches
On another note Joe will have more problems with a fighter like Taylor/Tarver/Hopkins who actually have the speed/reach/jab/straight shots to land and outbox him. As it stands I'd favour him to beat anyone from 160-175. Lets hope he gos for superfight after superfight from now on in.
Finally this is a career defining fight and Lacy was overhyped but was very good all the same.

I was jumping with joy in the 8th 9th 10th 11th and 12th.
Ref could of stepped in with no complaints quite a few times.

Gatti vs Mayweather - Trinidad vs Wright, two fights with similar one sided nature.

I agree they should have pulled him out and perhaps saved him for another lesser title, as it stands I think the fella will be scared for ever by the beating he took

Bang on the button mate, i was tryng to explain to me mates that the corner should have pulled Lacy out from round 9 onwards, so what if they did pull him out, Lacy would have had 1 Loss to his record but wouldn't have had to take the beating that he did in the final stages. God bless Lacy what a heart he showed & Calzaghe, brilliant performance lad

Yes, I was hoping the fight was gonna be stopped around round 9. The fight was a gore fest in the end

I'm sure that had the ref been British or Europeon he would have stopped the fight... A lot of American refs seem willing to let fighters fighter until they literally drop... Lacys facial damage by itself was probably enougth to get the fight stopped...

Lacy should have been stopped, he was getting his face smashed in and was just wading forward like a club fighter throwing huge hooks. His corner was shit as well, they should have looked at the facts and pulled him out or at least given him some constructive advice, there was nobody in there saying anything from what i could here apart from the occasional "Come on this is our time baby"...waste of time.

I guess Lacy’s corner were just praying that no matter how much of a hiding he was taking, the potential remained for him to land a bomb. Just one huge shot that might stop Calzaghe. Of course it didn’t happen.
You’d think Lacy’s corner, promoter and so on had a lot of time, money, effort, belief sewn up in him too, so it was just sheer disbelief what was happening. Whilst Lacy was still standing they refused to accept he couldn’t land a big one.

His corner was shit. How do you fight at an elite level and not throw straight jabs or straight rights. Been a huge puncher is fine but you can't land a huge punch without setting it up on any skilled defensive fighter. I saw this in his previous fights and thought Calazage could outbox him. When Lacy occasionally threw the straight right hand it actually landed - if your the corner you watch and tell him to throw the straight right and work behind a jab. Instead of head hunting throw hooks to the body if you cant land them. No corner advice at all. His corner seemed like assholes in the pre-fight interviews too
I had a sick feeling in my stomach after seeing the beating Lacy took in there. And usually I'm quite happy to see someone torn to pieces but this was such a long hard beating

Apparently Gary Shaw was angry with Birmingham and the ref and was shouting for the fight to be stopped.

Shaw left it far too late to get out of his seat to complain though.

Yea wasn't he complaining round the 12th or earlier? If he was complaining in the 12th it was a saving face exercise

Exactly - he complained with 1 seconds to go in the 12th and final round!!
Saving face.
Should never have gone past 10 rounds.
