Kenna lost? Really thought he'd win this after the llewelyn fight.

I thought that Kenna won on workrate, Steeds was landing the heavier shots , but Kenna was more busy.

i was surprised that the verdict was so wide 98-94 if i remember right.

Steve Ede looked ok, was given a good workout, but his accurate combinations brought the fight to an end.

Bad loss for Jay Morris, he was stopped in the 2nd by Duncan Cottier.

I thought it was way closer than 98 - 94, Colin clearly lost the first 3 rounds but gained momentum from there. Thought the ref was a bit of a bottler by not ducting points for head butts, spitting, biting etc from Steeds who was very dirty.

I didn't think Steeds did enough to win, perhaps Colin didn’t either but to take a title you have to do a lot more and I felt out of the two Colin was the busier fighter. But credit to both guys they went toe to toe for 10 rounds and both of them took and gave some good shots. I thought Colin fought the wrong fight, he tried to brawl with a brawler which didn’t work, Steeds look like he could take punches all night and keep coming, I thought Colin should have used his boxing skills more and jabbed from the outside racking up points, as soon as Colin got on the inside it was Steeds territory, punching off the clinch, pushing Colin back etc.

Can’t wait for the rematch!

This was the first time I had watched Steeds and he looked like nothing fazed him or would out him down. I thought he was unusual in that he looked happy to be stuck on the ropes, looked great coming out of clinches etc. Not a boxer but a bit of a brawler who at only 22 looks to have a decent future ahead of him.

Edes looked great again, he fought another lively opponent who came to fight which was great. Edes blasted him out with superior footwork and some of his combinations where blistering.

Bad loss for Jay Morris, he was more than holding his own, then got caught with two power punches and he went down. The crowd didn’t like it when the ref called it off but from where I was sitting it seemed a fair result as Jay looked out.

The George Katzsimpas fight was another toe to toe encounter while it lasted. Full marks to George for his ring walk music (James Brown – The Boss) and wearing a mask to the ring! Both fighters jumped straight on each other from the off and who ever landed first was going to win, George did but fair play to Leon Owen for giving it a good go.

The Shane Watson fight again was like all the others, no real boxing but just trying and landing with big shots, not for the boxing purists by any means. I was surprised it went to points but enjoyed it all the same.

The Danny Goode fight was the worst of the night. I’m sorry to any Goode fans but I just can’t take to him, he’s got all the flash stuff – a DJ talking him into the ring while mixing, strippers from the local lap dancing club, all the big man stuff but he hasn’t fought anyone decent and his fights are awful – two jabs then charge into the clinch with his shoulder. That was it for 8 rounds, jab jab clinch. How he won I don’t know, his opponent tried to fight and box but couldn’t because of the clinching. I’m sure there was a 10 – 7 round to Goode’s opponent – Goode got a point deducted, then he got knockdown. I really thought he lost.

Apart from Colin losing it was a good night, maybe not great boxing, but every bout apart from Goode had boxers wanting to win instead of going through the motions, good trading punches, real toe to toe stuff.

Speaking to Colin after in the pub, not sure what he’s going to do, he would like a rematch but we’ll wait and see what happens. I said to him that the kind of fight he just fought was no disgrace to him or boxing, he went toe to toe for 10 rounds and was unlucky to have lost. I would like to see him in the ring ASAP to get his confidence back up, but against a decent class of opponent. I said to him he should keep himself fit because you never know when he might get that late call.

I've no idea how Goode won either, he definatly lost one of the rounds 10-7 , so that makes him 3 rounds down straight away, thought he lost by a clear desicion, i'd agree with you that Goode is going to find it hard to step up a level, he is too easy to hit.

Kenna can comeback at this level i think, as you say he fought a bit of the wrong fight, i thought his balance was a bit off in the early going, this made Steeds punches seem a bit harder than they were.
In the later rounds Steeds only really worked in the first 30-40 seconds of each round, whereas Kenna would try and work for the 3 minutes, i thought that was enough to win him the rounds.
