Yes.... my initial reaction was who. Apparently, he is an undefeated Scot who holds a size advantage over Anderson.

However, there is only one fighter who has won more than lost on Dickson's record (Taz Jones) and that he only managed a draw in that one - and that was probably a hometown decision (although, I didn't see the fight).

So with that in mind, I cannot understand how Dickson was deemed worthy for the title fight by the Commonwealth board. Dickson and Anderson are stable mates aswell.

The board are having a meeting next week, hopefully they see sense about Okine's team messing everybody around and put Ali straight in as mandatory.

We did offer Ali to as a replacement for the Commonwealth Title on the 17th, but obviously Andersons lot do not want to go anywhere near Ali.

Hope things go well for Ali in the meeting, he warrants the crack.

I just cannot believe the Commonwealth board (or whatever it is called) have accepted this fight. Okay, he's undefeated and might be decent - but he hasn't beaten anyone of note at all.

Surely the board should have suggested someone (with perhaps a similar record) from a different country, Dickson is not even top ten domestically yet.

Just seen this on teletext, apparently Gilmour who manages and promotes both fighters believes ;

Trust me, Anderson aint scared of fighting Ali in the slightest! Ali is an up and coming fighter but how does he warrent a fight before anyone else?? His draw over Barnes, his outpointing Starkov. This is the first time I've heard Chaddo putting Ali forward for the 17th march against Anderson, trust me Chaddo, Ali gets respect from me but were not sitting up here saying "oh please don't let me fight him" . Just the same as Ali not worrying about fighting anyone. Time will tell.

i dont think this fight will be as bad as ppl expect.
dickson may not be the best fighter out there but he will pose a few problems for kevin but i think it will be kevin who comes out on top.

Agree MTG, Craig is a tough cookie, who can bang a bit. Ive seen most of his fights so know what to expect. His a totally decent guy who deserves his shot. All these other posts are asking who he is but let's be honest nobody north of the border had really heard over Ali Nuumbembe until he got a draw with Barnes.

Thats probably because he has never had a promoter behind him.

Thankfully he is a good ticket seller and gives good value for money when he fights.

I know Kevin won't be scared of fighting Ali, I just think his management are.

Yeah, I know Ali has 3 wins over Ernie, but lets be honest, plenty of people have wins over Ernie, I'm not slagging of Smith cause he's a good journeyman, but that's really all he is, a good tough journeyman. I'm sure Ali is a fighter that a lot of guys would give a wide bearth, but if Ali keeps on winning he'll get his chance soon enough.

Don't get me wrong, as I aint seen Dickson fight I shouldn't judge his ability - especially as he is undefeated. But, I really cannot see how he deserves his shot.

I would like to see a recognisable win on his resume then I wouldn't mind the match. Even if he would have scored the win over Jones then I could see an arguement that maybe that this fight warrants sanctioning. But really the only title fight Dickson warrants a shot at now is a Celtic title or one of these obscure ones - not the prestigious Commonwealth belt.

Colin McNeil would have been a much better opponent - and a much more sellable fight, especially with the good boy vs bad boy angle they could now spin on it.

Ali's draw with Barnes (disputed draw, I haven't read any report that thought Barnes deserved it, most think Ali did) is good enough to warrant a crack - Barnes was the reigning British champion and had beaten a Commonwealth champion (who never lost his belt in the ring) as one of his defenses.

I'm not too sure where Craig is in the official rankings, but I do think he would beat many of the other prospects out there. He'll come prepared and aint scared to have a tear up, so should be a good one.
Regarding Alis fight with Barnes, I thought Ali had maybe just done enough but it was a close one. Barnes is one of those guys who look really good in one fight and in the next something is missing, he's a hit or miss charcter. Is he sticking at light welterwight do you know?

I hope he is, Barnes reminded me on Saturday why i used to like him so much. I believe the collapse against Okine was just a mental thing, if Barnes had held himself together and been on form i don't think Okine would have touched him. I know on Saturday he was only in against Silence Saheed who was tough and game but limited, but Barnes moves are so smooth and slick he makes a fan out of me everytime

Would like to see Ali get a shot at Kevin Anderson as well by the way, no disrespect to Craig Dickson but i would have expected Ali to get a shot first seen as he was supposed to fighting in an eliminator anyway with Okine?
