The Flyweights have got to be one of the most competitive divisions at the moment, WBA champion is Lorenzo Parra 27-0 who won the title against the much fancied Eric Morel in the defending champions backyard. Parra has defended the title 5 times, including a near shutout win over Brahim Asloum.

IBF champ is Vic Darchinyan 25-0 who is a strong box/fighter from Australia, he is looking good each time he's defended the title, best name on his record is Irene Pacheco 30-0 , who he beat by KO to win the title.

The WBC has 2 champions, because of there stupid interim laws, one of the champs is Pongsaklek Wonjongkam 60-2, who has made 13 defenses of his title and hasn't lost a fight since 1996.

The other is Jorge Arce 43-3, who is a 2 weight champion, he is the power punching champion who has been involved in title fights since 1998. He has had 5 fights involving the WBC fly title and won them all by KO.

So who is the best of those champions?

I'd probably side with Arce at the moment, the Thai Wonjongkam has been around for a while and i'm not sure how much he has left at this weight, Parra is a very good boxer but i don't think that he would hold off Arce for the full 12 rounds. And Darchinyan is still a bit raw at this level, i think Arce would break him up in a very tough fight.

Parra and Arce could fight to decide that. PW loses respect because it is known he is going after the WBC defense record and nothing else, so he will not take another fight for a big payday until he is ready to retire. I guess he's very happy doing his own thing over in Thailand and couldn't be bother to defend the title against any of the other fighters mentioned.

Arce has been in some great form of late - he really could be in the P4P mix on current form.

Is there any danger of an Arce-Wonjongkam fight happening? It should happen, Arce has had that interim title for a fair old while now. Or are the WBC sneaking in 'superchampions' on the sly?

Parra looks like the best to me. more versatile and skilled than the rest

I agree with Matty on Parra and Arce. I believe the flyweight division is full of talent and extremely underrated. Personally i'd rather watch two good flyweights go at it than any heavy weight match up at the moment. A fight between Parra and Arce would show who the best is.

I agree the flyweight division is one of the toughest around.

Its a shame that not one Flyweight is rated in the top 25 pound for pound fighters on this site. Its obvious these fighters are overlooked due to the weight division they are in.

Surely the likes of Parra, Arce, Pongsaklek Wonjongkam are better than John Ruiz!!!

Yeah agree with that, all 3 of those is worthy of being in the top 25, never know might see Haskins in with the top guys somewhen. I know he's still learning at the moment, at Euro level the flyweight look quite tough as well, Ivan Pozo the Euro champion looks like a bit of a puncher, and has a good chin.
That would certainly make an interesting matchup with Haskins in the future.

Yes Haskins certainly needs a few more fights before we talk about the likes of Parra, Arce, Pongsaklek Wonjongkam.

He is boxing Zolile Mbityi on 7th April in Bristol live on SKY. This is another step up in class for Lee. We think he is around 3 fights away from challenging for European Title. We would have no concerns about putting him in with Ivan Pozo.

Dale Robinson would be a good fight also.

I'd be looking for Haskins to break Mbityi down for a stoppage win maybe 7-8th round, wouldn't be surprised if it ended early though, It must be hard to prepare to fight a guy like Haskins, He was very impressive last time out.

Its a shame for Lee that there isn't more Flyweights in this country, when you look at the British title it hasn't been contested since 2000, I've no doubt that Lee would love to be able to win the Lonsdale belt, So hopefully Dale Robinson can get back down to Fly and contest it with him. Would certainly be a good one to watch.

Jorge Arce is the man for me!! Such an exiting little character.
