Interim title shot requested for Joan Guzman!
Mr. Paco Valcarcel:

As you know, we have been notified that allegedly and Sports Network have postponed the world title challenge of mandatory contender Joan Guzman against champion Scott Harrison once again until May.

This is absurd!

How is a true champion going to postpone a fight because of MINOR dental surgery? Are his teeth the problem or is it really his weight that is causing the postponement?

As you already know, Guzman is very eager and willing to once again represent your organization. We ask that you allow us to fight for the interim title since it seems that Harrison has no intentions of defending his title in the near future. Our promoter, Sycuan Ringside Promotions, is currently in discussions with Golden Boy to see if Guzman can be put on their May 5th card. This will be an ideal date for Guzman to fight for the interim title.

We have been willing to face any opponent that has been put in our path while Harrision has backed out of our fight twice already. Please allow us to prove to your organization and boxing fans all over that we are the best in the featherweight division.

When I first read the fight was off, the same thoughts (Scott's weight) did cross my mind.

What do you all think?

Hang on, how has he backed out twice? When was the first time, is my memory failing me?

One thing which occurs to me, is that if Scott did have a major infection, then it's quite possible that the way he is having to weight drain is making him susceptible to infection. Having to get down well below your natural bodyweight and basically being temporarily malnourished cannot be good for you, especially when coupled with incredibly hard training. Scott's training camp must be like being in a forced labour camp in a Russian gulag.

Fight takes place on 20th May at the Kings Hall in Belfast

Well wasn't he 146 fight night last time - 20lbs of water in 1day in absurd. He was strugling to make weight when he was coming in at 140 imagine how hard to near impossible it must be now. Harrison is as big as Hatton and picking on featherweights. Bring back same day weigh-ins.

Bit cheeky going on about Harrisons wieght, seeing hw Guzman came in at the super-feather limit for on of his title defences.

Anyone remember when Guzman and his then manager were accused of orchestrating the abduction/rape charges brought against Valcarcel (which he was later cleared of)? I'm sure he won't forget about that in a hurry!!

He should have added "If Scott needs teeth removing, Joan is more than happy to oblige."

Why is Guzman looking to fight for Goldenboy in May if Sports Network want to rearrange the fight for then?

I know it must be frustrating for Guzman but I do believe Harrison wants the fight, he could of easily just moved up and not even bothered. These things happen and I think Guzman should accept a delayed fight rather than beating up on a punching bag on a Goldenboy undercard.

The fight was suppose to happen on Feb. 25 (Harrison had 3 months to defend his WBO title) then it was delayed to March 25 now to May 20?!?!?

People keep delayin' Guzman's stardom!!!
