Joe would also kill Tarver, Woods and Johnson

Woods and Johnson could be hard fights for Joe. Woods likes to counter and is a fairly heavy handed chap, and has a better defence than Lacy. Johnson is cute on the inside, tough, determined and fights at a high pace.

I think it's a bit easy to assume Calzaghe will destroy everyone based on the lacy performance, but those guys are more well rounded fighters than Lacy.

Was Jones that bad in the Tarver rematch? I know he did a hell of a lot more posing and feinting than fighting and Tarvers workrate was fairly shite but I think people claiming him to be a health risk etc are going overboard slightly.

He went 12 rounds with the best fighter at light heavy and looked fairly dominant in some of the rounds, as a victory for Joe should def. lead to a fight with Tarver (and most probably his biggest payday) I don't think it's that bad.

Jones is still top 10 at light heavy and still the biggest name in the division. Would still fancy him against the likes of Woods

Can't see the fight happening. RJJ will ask for millions that Warren will be unwilling to pay! Can still see Joe fighting the WBO #1 contender in May unfortunatley!

Jones Jr went into the fight with Tarver to survive, not win, that's the only reason he lasted 12, that and the fact Tarver is a lazy fighter.

the ibf and wbo need to take a stance and refuse to sanction this. jones hasn't fought at super middle for 10 years and doesn't even deserve a sodding title shot.

if jones beats a top 10 contender at super middle and earns his shot, i see no problem with the fight.

A few years ago i would never have thought that RJJ would have been a fighter to stay in the sport longer than he should, he never always seemed in love with boxing, and has made millions, guess it shows that boxers are always the last to know when to quit

Love boxing or not, Jones Jr has a planet sized ego, and wants to go out of the sport with a big fight and a win, he must now know he's done as a top level fighter, but he just cannot resist seeing his name in print.

However, when it comes down to it, the thought of getting on a plane and facing Calzaghe will make him think again, he'll ask for 5 million + for the fight and it will all be off.

Markussen's a pretty good fighter. Definitely a level above the Salems, Veits and Ashiras

Jones wants a slice of Calzaghe, that's the fight they're looking for. Jones needs it - he's not going to beat Tarver or Johnson but he might think he has a chance with Calzaghe, thus extending his career / maximising his earnings.

Calzaghe's probably the biggest fight for him below heavyweight which wouldn't be a rematch with someone who's beaten him.

If this happens it will definitely be at 175.

Well Johnson just wants his big pay day against Calzaghe. Got make at least some ripples in the media to get people talking about you.

He has a point though. I know exactly why he is doing it but you can't fault his argument. If I were him I'd get ring side seats and where a T-shirt with "Calzaghe is a Pussy" on it on fightnight too. That should get him the fight.

good on you Johnson. Glen's really surprised me by looking so good since the Tarver loss. you just can't keep a good man down. i remember him suffering evil back-to-back beatings in 97/98 vs Hopkins (shut out) and Merqui Sosa (competitive gruelling fight where Johnson's left eye got mangled). how the fornicate did he come back from that and make it to the IBF and 'World' light heavy titles?

Calzaghe-Johnson would be a real fight, and whoever won would be in the Hall of Fame, imo. Johnson's developed a really good right hand counter in his fights with lefties Richard Hall and GK Jones and I think he could trouble Calzaghe. It would be a tossup between Johnson's toughness/savvy and Calzaghe's blinding speed/southpaw skills.

I hope ppl like Johnson and Kessler make plenty of noise, so that Warren knows where to look when the Jones fight doesn't happen.

Yep. I think it would have the makings of a tremendous fight. Johnson fights out of that crouch and works his way in behind a rolling approach, not just wading in like Lacy with his chin in the air. He is a good inside fighter, very very tough, and maintains a pretty impressive workrate throughout.
