Tyson's life in my opinion would make a good movie, ups and downs in his career, self doubt, especially if it has non-bias point of view

Or maybe even Sugar Ray Leonard, up and downs in his career too

Both Bobby Chacon and Mike Tyson are excellent choices (already one about Mike -- HBO). Also

Gerry Cooney -- White hope who rose to challenge for Heavyweight Title but loses, sinks into destructive alcoholism only to emerge from it and pour his energies back into the sport--saving many ex-fighters from poverty.

Tommy Morrison -- brought up hard, fighting in toughman contests at age 13, has a meteoric rise as a pro, only to be stricken with HIV.

Aaron Pryor -- On top of the world after an inconceivably horrible upbringing, then succumbs to crack, only to kick the habit and give back to the community by preaching the gospel and training young fighters in order to keep them off the streets.

Roberto freakin' Duran

Gerry Cooney is a good choice, he had alot of unecessary pressure on his side....

Although there was a (unfunny) comedy loosely based on Cooney/Holmes called the Great White Hype

Chacon and Duran would be my pick. Or maybe James Scott.

Matthew Saad Muhammad's life was meant for Hollywood.
I can't believe anyone hasn't picked up on it yet.

Billy Collins would be interesting.

Although he was never a world champion I think the life of Jonny Owen would make a good movie. He possesed all of the heroic qualities that would not only make for a good boxing movie, but also a great human intrest story. To bad it would have to be a sad ending.

Sanchez was my first thought also, Barry McGuigan was my 2nd thought

the Meldrick Taylor movie would be a real tear jerker. Talking about tragic. I agree with Salvador Sanchez. I once heard they were in the middle of making a movie about his life. I saw the Sanchez and Azumah nelson fight recently. GTFO, unbelievable. Anyways, I would like the role to go to Jael Garcia Bernal (Amorres Perros and Y tu Mama Tambien). Just give him a big outrageous blond fro and he would be a natural for the part.

Trouble with a Sanchez movie is the truly down beat ending, plus the story is over just as it's getting started.

Anthony Mundine will make a good story one day - it's got all the elements.

Neon Leon Spinks - starring Don Cheadle.

Manny Pac - with a Freddie Roach subplot.

Its only a matter of time before the "Oscar de la Hoya" movie is made by HBO. This rags to riches story combined with the passing of his mom will make get the attention of networks. As for real boxing fans, we already know the story all to well.
