I am the Judo instructor at Elite Martial Arts and Fitness in Skokie Illinois. The school has an outstanding Karate program run by one of Americas finest Karateka as well. On May 6th 2006 we will host an Exhibition of Judo , Karate and other Martial Arts with all of the proceeds to go to Gerald and Greg. I Boxed Amateur and for a little while pro back in the 80s, any injury to a fighter saddens me. What I need from any of the posters here is info on any way to get funds to the two Champs. Names of foundations etc. I will keep those interested posted on Boxrec.

G-Man deserves a hand. You got an extra grand in thr bank, send it his way. Kid with a rare talent put on the line for our pasttime; straight right and hook to the body. Never forget the first Jackson fight. Kid had a hell of a chin. Julian hit him with the Herold KO and G-Man, while buzzed, kept complete composure. I don't blame a kid with that insane talent to believe he was invincible, taking off the Kronk gold and taping his own fists as I've read before the Benn fight. Thought he was Tyson, or Jordan what have you. I will send him a grand.

I don't think it is unfair to find out a persons character before donating money to their cause. I remember a case here in Indiana a bunch of kind hearted people got together and raised money for a family in need and the guy took the money and spent it on drugs. That is not the only time something like this has happend. I don't know anythig about this Mcclellan incident, but in Samuals defense it is not a bad idea to find somethig about the person you are giving the money to and maybe the organizers of the fund raiser have already researched it.

Well, as I told Samuel at the start. If he wants to post negative crap about McClellan, then he can start his own thread...this thread is about a benefit for not only McClellan, but Greg Page as well. Also, I doubt very seriously if McClellan will be spending any donation money on drugs and I think pretty much everyone in boxing knows what money for McClellan, or Page will go for!

I did not mean to imply I thought that Mcclellan would misuse any of the proceeds. The guy who spent the money on drugs was just an example of what can happen. I realize that no one is perfect an if you disqualify every one who had done something wrong no one would be worthy of helping, and certainaly I have no control what people go around doing nor do I seek to make it my business. My only point was when you are going to give money to a person that it is not a bad idea to look into it, and as I have stated before maybe they already have.

Just trying to help out the families of two fighters who are in rough shape. Gerald has three children who are paying Im sure a very high price. His sisters have dedicated their lives to taking care of him as he is incapacitated . Everyone knows the story of both. And I agree we should always check into who we are donating to. However it has become increasingly obvious that the only people who are going to help out proffesional Boxers who have been severely injured in the ring are those in the Boxing community and fans. Im a Father myself ,if I had ever been hurt in the ring I would certainly appreciate any help for the sake of my Family. I certainly appreciate the opinions of everyone.
