Sources from HBO have informed Boxingtalk.com that former lightweight title challenger Juan Lazcano broke his finger in the gym and will not be available to face Ricky Hatton on May 13. Team Hatton has turned down Ricardo Torres and Junior Witter as replacements to Lazcano. HBO also has zero interest in airing a Hatton mandatory defense vs. Ben Rabah so Hatton's opponent is once again unknown. REMEMBER WHERE YOU HEARD IT FIRST! (8:45 PM EST)

I wonder if Ricky regrets leaving Warren yet.

I thought Lazcano was scheduled to fight Torres. Anyone have information on this? I don't mean to offend Hatton fans, but even though he won against Tzyu if he wants to remain the number 1 jr. welter he has to fight good opposition. I think Maussa was alright for a 1st defense, but i'd like to see him step up the competition.

34 year-old Ndou says he wouldn't want to be any boxer taking the fight with Hatton on May 13 ahead of him.

"Mysterious things happen in boxing," he explained. "Lazcano has got a broken finger. The next guy may get a broken leg. Strange forces are at work here. Ricky Hatton vs. Lovemore Ndou must be made!"

Thanks for the info, I guess this is a decent second title defense. Although I think he'll have a fairly easy time against the older Ndou at least it's another fight to compare him with other top jr. welterweights.

Oh for Christ's sake, this is sodding ridiculous. When are we going to have a bloody opponent named. This is getting like final destination.

Hatton can't turn down Witter but take on the guy he just beat: N'Dou. That just looks bad.

All this delaying has backed them into a corner now - and like I say, they defintely wont want to take on Torres.

Has to be Witter I reckon. Or Harris.

Stranger things have happened - could be, Warren already offered the peace pipe by inviting Hatton to the JC fight. Rumours were that it was his Dad who dislike FW.....Ricky must be wondering what the hell he's let himself in for at the moment.

God this is a joke. You never know - this could mean Hatton returning to Warren after all. Still doesn't help the present situation. The date, venue and TV slot all seem fixed up.

So are Harris and Ben Rabah still available? I've lost track now. Stevie Johnston? Colin Lynes? A slimmed down Mario Veit?

Interesting the "turning down Witter." No doubt lirva will be keen to portray this as proof that Hatton is officially shitting it against Witter. This surely doesn't help dispell that, although the other factor would be presenting a marketable fight to a US audience, and I don't know if they would fully appreciate the story or meaning behind Hatton-Witter.

I think Hatton may aswell get Ben Rabah out of the way as opposed to fighting N'dou. Then he can get a big fight next. Otherwise its N'dou and then Ben Rabah next. Get the mandatory out of the way now!

Maybe they should just scrap this date for Hatton to fight in the US and look at getting an English venue/footy ground for a May/June date with Witter.

They could start building it up now and do some good hard sell in the coming months...

Not many over here are gonna care about Hatton vs N'Dou or Witter...just two fighters we could care less for someone who is a unified champ to fight. We got on Floyd for his recent picks, and he is taking on Judah next month. I really hope Ricky finds a decent fight, he's too likeable not to want him to succeed.

Hattons camp will surely complain that all the big names are tied up, however when this merrygoround first started there were plenty of decent fighters available. They have fucked about for too long!

I think Hattons first choice is Rabah now but I think HBO are refusing to put on the show! Not sure whether that is true or not?

With regards to his Boxing career, everything seems to be going wrong for Ricky as of late, & I'm gutted for him!

It seems because Ricky left FW, he's now paying for it!

No opponent has been announced for Ricky's next bout, and if they do not decide who he's fighting soon, surely the fighter he does take on, will not have sufficient training time?

I hope it all works out for Hatton. However, to say he not getting the exposure he would have liked, would be putting it nicely!

I think Ray should have stuck to selling carpets and left the boxing management side of things to experienced professionals. Hindsight is a wonderful gift but I am sure this is not what Hatton envisaged for his American ‘break out’ fight.

This is turning into a badly co-ordinated pantomime, I am afraid.

Well there's a reason Warren is the top dog in the UK. He knows his onions, no matter what criticisms anyone cares to level, name another UK promoter who ever did what Warren did with Hamed and Hatton?
