Will he still own british title?

Hes still the commonwealth champ (after the mac fight) so I would find it strange if they stripped him of the british.

Fight will probably be a double defense against Dean Francis. He will be out for a little while though as he broke a finger in the WBU scrap.

Why is he the commonwealth champ still?

Thought you had to vacat it straight away for world titles.

I thought he beat Macca though.

I know this thread is about Hobson, but what Knockout said got me thinking, how come Matt Skelton did'nt get stripped when he lost to Williams, in a Commonwealth title fight?, was it because the Commonwealth title was the only title being contested?, and how come David Barnes got stripped of his British title after losing to Okine who was at the time Commonwealth champ?- help i'm confused!

I think Barnes was stripped because he revieved a suspension (due to his KO loss tho Okine) and was unable to fulfill his mandatory defence in time.

i think its because heavyweights cannot have catch weight contests so they can only lose in a defence of the title...
where as lower weights can have catch weight non title bouts where they wouldnt lose their title if they lost

Why was Barnes suspended over a KO loss?

If you lose a fight by KO, you recieve a suspension (not sure how long it is though).

Anyone who is KO'ed/stopped is suspended for a mandatory time period by the BBBC. In the case of KOs I thinks its 31 or 45 days. Cant remember which.

it's 28 days normally for a cut, stoppage or knockout. Sometimes this is extended to 45 days

okine didn't knock out barnes as far as i remember. barnes looked in a bad way by the end

hasn't hobson gone over to SN? would be great if they made hobson-maccarinelli II

Suppose it would have a been TKO Maussa, Barnes just ran out of gas and collapsed under Okine's clubbing shots in the 12th, so Barnes was stopped.

Mark Hobson is still British and Commonwealth Champion and hasn't been stripped because Enzo wasn't eligible to fight for either as he is a current world champion.

Are we likely to see a rematch do you know? Mark obviously deserves one, and surely ITV would stump up the cash for it. Maccarinelli seems a decent enough sort to go that route rather than spending the rest of the year knocking over another 2 or 3 stiffs, especially if he gets paid well. It'd make a decent enough main event for ITV, I'd have thought, what with 2 million watching them last time out.

Mr Warren was very impressed with a ring rusty, short notice Mark Hobson and am sure that within 12 months he would be more than happy to arrange a rematch with a more even playing field. I am sure that if Enzo is still on top he would oblige.

Cheers Chris. I know I'm not alone in wanting to see a rematch, it was a cracking contest. I'm sure Mark can perform better with full notice, so the result may well be different. That said, I'm sure Enzo learnt a lot that night as well, he showed he can go 12 hard rounds, which a lot of people doubted. I don't doubt it'd be another good one if they should meet again.

We could here that Warren was impressed during the McDonagh/Alexander ring walks.

Standing a bit too close to the mic - but it was all complimentary.

Chris, do you know why the fight wasn't for the WBO interim belt as it was at one time announced.

Thats in two fights that Warren fought for a title to be added, looked to have won his appeal - but ultimately didn't. I thought Williams vs Skelton was scheduled for the British title aswell.

Did Hobson sign with SN in the end was robinson included. Enzo gone to mexico maybe hobson should join him

Boxing News said Hobson signed with SN, I think

They should have a rematch as I thought hobson won and that was withouth being prepered. Enzo will have learnt a lot with that fight and it shows the level of the pap he has been in with hither to.

I can't see Warren wanting a rematch though, he doesn't like risking marketable comodities and while Enzo is on a winning streak (although questionably after hobson) he will not want him to risk it on a prepered hobson.
