James Toney 237 LBS.....dear lord.

anyone got a photo?

I thought he was an his max. effective weight against Holyfield...about 20lbs south of where he is now.

Still, as long as his body doesnt give out, I still fancy ol' fat head to come thru this one.

What chances do give Toney of winning by KO/TKO?

Very little, Rahman has an ok chin, and Toney can't really whack at heavyweight. If Rahman had showed up in bad shape then maybe, but even a fat Rahman took some big shots off of Tua in their second fight and didn't flinch.

I think it will come down to who has the better workrate, and that would be Rahman IMO.

Its still a Toney UD for me. Rahman's looking in very good shape though

James Toney may be an alltime great but he hasnt been doing roadword for this fight. I think hes resting in his laurels. Rahman looks in shape and ready to goto war. If he turns up the intensity Toney may not be able to handle the heat. Still going for Toney UD but this is a close 1 for for me now.

God help Toney when he retires, he's going to end up like buster Douglas did, a fat bloated diabetic 340 lb mess.

Toney hasn't fought anyone at heavy that has put the pressure that Rahman will bring on Saturday night.
When Rahman is on form he has a very good jab, lands hard with that, Toney is a great fighter, and has good body movement, but i don't see him being able to outwork Rahman for 12 rounds.

Christ, are you trying to make out Rahman is the second coming of Smokin' Joe? Rahman is a lazy bastard, have you seen him fighting lately. He got outworked by an ancient holyfield and Ruiz. Toney easily outworked Ruiz.

Still think Toney wins this, but he looks in poor shape, very flabby.

Nah i know that Rahman has alot of shortcomings, but like i said, when in shape and well motivated he is a good heavyweight, i just think that tomorrow will be his day.

I'm with Topper. Until the weigh-in, would have predicted Toney, now, I shall probably have a decent punt on Rahman on points.

Toney almost looks embarassed about his weight. Toney will suffer a heart attack if he isn't careful! I still reckon he will school Rahman though, heart attack or not!

Rahman has OK skills but always fights the kind of fight his opponents want. In which case he'll be spending a night tucked in close getting hit and not hitting much.

Toney's a little on the lardy side though, and Rahman does look in shape. Maybe this is the one match where he does actually try to fight his own way and jab his way to a win, but I doubt it. Old dog and all that.

I dont think Toney has done any roadwork in a good number of years to be fair. With his immobile, slippin n slidin style he can get away with it.

Remember this isn't a beauty contest and bouts aren't won by who looks better in speedos; based on body type most would have said Lacy would take Calzaghe's head off and we all know what happened there.

Still, James is meant to be a professional athlete and he looks more like an (out of shape) darts player.

Exactly me old china. Toney has more tricks in his arsenal that a room full of fighters, name one other heavyweight who has managed to outwork John Ruiz with such ease. Ruiz had been beaten up before, but Toney just took him to school, and completely nullified his jab and grab tactics.

True, but he was also found guilty of drug taking afterwards, so that might of helped his strength during the Ruiz fight.
On pure ability i'd always say that Toney is the better fighter, a future hall of famer for sure . But styles make fights, and i think that Rahman will win, Rahman will outjab and outwork Toney

I swear you just read my mind, I was just thinking about Moore in relation to Toney. Another guy who started at middleweight and worked his way up to heavy, another guy who could hang with world class heavyweights, and who was often having to shed lots of weight to make LH.

Moore like Toney was able to fight the pace for 15 rounds, and had incredible stamina even when in his 40's, and would often outlast men 20 years his junior, because he knew how to relax in the ring, work when he had to, coast when he could, and impose his fight on the opponent.

It's no accident that Toney says he learned a lot of his moves watching tapes of Moore, Charles, Walcott and the like, all very good defensive fighters.

It's no suprise to me that Toney has come in heavy. He'll still win though, the bloke's a fantastic fighter.

I've always favoured Rahman in this fight, so i'm not bothered if Toney comes in light or fat,
