Thought a potentially unremarkable night of boxing went well earlier. I'd have preferred that fight to the likes of a foreigner brought in. Sometimes you see guys come over and 'competitively extend' the home fighter. Dickson, I thought, was simply competitive.

It's unfortunate that next week's show will get quadruple x10 viewers, but that's TV boxing. Lads like their knockouts. And I expect David taps into an untamed streak within themselves.

But what a win for Barry Morrison! On paper I thought he might lose a hard fought close decision, or struggle past, but he blew Hickman out of there with the look of an extra touch of class. It was a real 'take notice' win. Whatever happens next.

First time I'd seen Ian Millarvie tonight. Was quite surprised by his hands down style, but when you have the speed and reflexes you can get away with it I suppose. That aside, he seemed a jovial giant and I hope he does well for himself in the dire heavyweight scene.

'Karl David' looked a real sleeper as soon as the bell rung, IMO. I got the impression it could be an early night after he caught Coyle with the first square left hook. The resulting bang-out probably was best all round - Coyle didn't get punished, but did get the shock of his life. As he sat on his stool with the eyes darting left to right I couldn't help but imagine him seeing big neon Vegas style signs popping up all around - "Welcome to boxing!". Together with his age and past performances - wasn't that impressed with him or Lomax in that bout - I'm not sure he should bother coming back. Up to him, obviously, but he's never looked the fittest, even though he does have decent ability. Up to him where he goes now.

Performance I'd expected from Steven McGuire. He did well in outscoring a potentially frustrating opponent, but he got a bit robotic toward the end. You'd expect an Ingle (?) fighter to feast on this type of roboticness, but he didn't have the stamina, and I'm not too sure he had the quality. Anyway, it was only his second contest and he can definately build from the defeat. He'd probably take offence if you said he'd make a good journeyman, but in 10-15 fights doing the right thing he could make a fair wad. This is just speaking hypothetically.

Finally, I see Sky ditched the WBF mince involving Tony Moran - when the night went early - in favour of Appleby - Reid (heehee he), which might not be always the best course. I think a better idea would be to impose a gag on naming the title. Literally to ignore it's existence. But maybe this is already their new strategy.

I thought that it was a thoroughly entertaining card last night.

Much better than some of the other cards recently

Missed the Maguire fight because i feel asleep! But the stuff beforehand was good enough. Enjoyed the main event, Dickson was competetive but it was Anderson's ability to suck up punches for spells and come back strong with his own work that impressed me, that guy must be pretty fit. Hopefully we can see Anderson in with someone like Ali Nuumbembe next, i would pick Anderson but Ali would be no pushover, i hope Anderson continues learning and progressing as he has been and importantly keeping active.

I had heard good things about Dean Hickman and how he had been improving but Barry Morrison really blew him away, Hickman was a bit rigid and upright and showed balls to drag himself up after some heavy knockdowns, Ian John Lewis did the right thing calling it off. Classy left hooks from Morrison and i agree with Manos a real sit up and take notice win.

The lad Appleby looked ok but it was hard to judge due to his opponent, the guy Ian Reid was so short! He looked a midget in there, thought the ref was a little fussy the way he kept lecturing Reid after every clinch. Not so sure about the stoppage but not too worried, doubt Reid was going to conjur up a win.

As for the others, Coyle got caught cold by Dawid, no problems with that stoppage, Coyle was defenceless and totally stunned. Dawid is probably better than his record suggests and Ian Millarvie found a good right hand to beat that big guy Callum. Hard to see how good he can be until he steps up a bit, but Callum was a good enough test for his fourth fight, considering he has come back from Anaemia as well!

It was a good card in the end.

Although it was going to be Anderson-v-Nuumbembe, I think I picked it up that he'd be happy with Anderson fighting Muttley next, and Nuumbe,be fights the winner of that one

Good to see Muttley had a lot to say on the matter at ringside. Maybe he could become a pundit after he retires.
