Margarito vs Hatton

All the top fighters are scheduled to fight, HBO have said they wont show Rabah or Harris, Hatton doesn't want to fight Witter or Torres, It sounds like Hatton vs Collazo isn't gong to happen.

Why doesn't Hatton cancell may 13th, and fight Margarito in june/july, Margarito is looking for an opponent, and is a big name in America.

If it's the big fights Ricky wants, why doesn't he try and make this fight.

Margarito is bound to want big money, as he's looking for an opponent, and this is not the kind of fight that gets put together as a last minute fight.

He'll fight Collazo. The news about him breaking his hand is wrong..

Is it? So where has this story come from then? What on earth is going on, this is a mess. I thought it was odd when they said he had broken his hand and 'probably' would miss the fight.

Christ, if you broke your hand in March, no way you're going to be fighting in May.

Seeing as Hatton usually takes a 14 week camp to cut weight, and Mid May is about 8 weeks away, he better be in camp already. And if he is in camp, and doesn't have the fight until June or July, I don't think he has the discipline to stay at his lower weight for another 4-6 weeks.

Yes, it's all a worry, would hate to see Hatton lose because he doesn't make weight properly. I get the feeling we will be lucky to see him fight twice ayear as champ.

Isn't it almost a certainty that the winner of Judah vs Mayweather will fight Margarito, in the summer?

On here it says Margarito vs TBA and then it brackets (probably the winner of Judah vs Mayweather).

And how many of those fights do you think will be top-notch opponents...sad to see such a good guy with talent waste away for no reason other than politics.

Mayweather said in his last interview after Judah he wanted De La Hoya, Mosley also wants to fight Mayweather. Cant see mayweather fighting Margarito. Mayweater would get more money for fighting Mosley or De la hoya.

People all talk up Margarito, but honestly he doesn't bring much draw power. He's a virtual unknown outside of hardcore fans, and he doesn't have a big time title Floyd tends to look for. Personally, I think Margarito is the best fight of the three for Floyd to take. He's very slow and plodding, in a very Lacy like manner. He takes an hour to throw his hooks, which if they do land, can be devastating, and I think he does much better with people who don't have much movement.

Dunno where that story came from but according to FA there'll be a joint press conference with Don King shortly.

It has been a farce and it seems it's mostly down to AP missing the oppportunity to get Baldomir before Gatti, and RH being guarenteed such a wad that there's not a lot left for the opponant. RH won't want to move the date or venue due to the massive purse he'd lose out on.

Yep, think Hatton has been promised the earth and it's been hard to find the opponents who are prepared to take the short end to make things possible.

Hatton's promoters won't be stupid enough to put him in with Margarito in his first fight at welterweight. That ain't gonna happen, no chance in hell, and rightfully so.

He needs to get used to the weight before facing someone of Margarito's quality. Maybe a fight against Margarito or Mayweather near the end of 2006 or early 2007 would be more realistic :box:

I agree with that. At this stage Margarito is a anumber too big for Hatton.

i don't think marg is that great. he's more like the good quality type of fighter that ppl would like to see a much smaller guy like mayweather take on in what some feel would be a 50-50 fight

smart money says a lot more people (with the PPV dollars to back it up) would like to see mayweather fight delahoya & consider oscar's chances of beating floyd much greater than margarito's!!
