Why has Hatton never wanted any of Witter?

Why?
Someone on ESB said this when I asked them why.
because hattons style is made for witter.witter has fast powerful also accurate punches, hatton is great at what he does, that is taking risk in order to bulldose into his oponents. not very smart to do against a counter puncher like junior.

It is interesting how Hatton never discusses Witter as a serious opponent away from the ring. The only time he mentions Witter is straight after a fight when he is pumped up after a win, when the dust settles and the adrenaline subsides then there is rarely any talk of a clash.

It's because Witter has always been too much of a high risk, low reward fight for Ricky. Simple as that, really.

I have asked this before, and Boxingchat never answered (which makes me thing the answer is yes).
Did Hatton once ask for a fight with Witter to be contracted in a long term deal he signed with Warren. That would indicate he would want it.... Cuts vs Phillips prevented it from happening.

IIRC, the contracted clause with Witter deal he signed with Warren happened after the fight with Phillips.

God, one little whiff of feminine intuition creeps onto the forum and straight away they're in there like lemmings to a clifftop.
Can't you see this is just another boxingchat persona? Check his/her IP. It's a rouse.

Witter could barely beat Colin Lynes, love.
Hatton would murder Witter, I wouldnt pay to see it.
Go home, gt the dinner on, and do the ironing.

I just wish they would fight, mainly to shut everyone up. I am pretty confident that Hatton could stop Witter within the distance.

I think you blokes have been ripped off, At least we are getting Green-Mundine after all these years you would think they could organise it.

As I understand Ricky really wanted to fight Witter, he asked for a clause in his contract guaranteeing him the fight... But FW didn't want it, assumedly because of styles - it was too dangerous a fight for too little reward.
A good management decision at the time.
Ricky would smash Witter now in my opinion - Witter has gone back, and Hatton has really progressed.
Hatton is the only fight Witter can make good money from and I can understand Hatton not wanting to give him the payday, considering how disrespectful Junior has been.
Hatton is the toughest and a winner, there is NO was he would personally duck anyone.

i think the reason why it never happened is cos of witter's attitude and lack of respect.
hatton doesn't like witter and doesn't wanna give him the payday that would come with fighting him.
people often say that's bollocks, but i believe it's the truth and the reason the fight never happened.
vivian harris also showed a lack of respect and never got the may 13th fight.

I think you're right. I agree with E. I think Hatton would beat Witter now -
might have been trickier 4/5 years back - but I don't buy the excuses. To be honest, deep down I don't think he fancies the idea of a grudge match.

That's how I recall it happening too - Warrén said it was going to be Hatton's next fight when interviewed over the public mic (after the Phillips fight) I remember him clearly geeing the crowd up with the announcement.
Hatton was consequently out for over 5 months (due to the cuts) When he came back it was against Rios with Witter on the undercard.
Then it gets confusing, because Witter walked away from a proposed Pinto fight and at the same time SN.
Witter made is own bed as far as I am concerned, not that it matters that much.
Hatton would beat him easily ;)

Looking bad in two fights doesn't mean much yet so I'll wait an see.
Hatton should of done better against Maussa yet decided to dowhat he did with Tszyu when he didn't need to!
Welcome Emma.

If Witter wins the WBC title which he should, it would make sense for Hatton to fight him then!
If he doesn't then you could think he'd still be ducking him.

Maine Road was booked for the fight being the last event at the stadium.
Hatton, wouldn't personally duck anyone. Other than Junior Witter, Kelson Pinto, Miguel Cotto, Steve Murray (Yes Steve Murray) Bobby Vanzie, Floyd Mayweather (twice) Sharmba Mitchell that is

I personally thought Vanzie would have given Hatton shedloads of problems. I think Bobby talked about it once too. Thats not an insult to Ricky because Bobby was a potential world champ that got shafted. He could have held a belt and even given problems to Castillo imho (who got a gift against Casamoya).
