Hell I might as well say it...I actually watch Butter Bean, always thought his fights were fun to watch, four rounders or not. That and I was a fan of Randall Tex Cobb, cus he was funny and was a tough guy. Liked alot of fighters, but I ain't listing them all.
Plus Laila Ali, Anne Wolffe and a few other women boxers are fun to watch.

There isn't a whole helluva lot of his fights on film, but the Jack Johnson Ketchell fight I love to watch.
I know people can say that was a pre-arranged draw, but look at the film again---Ketchell's face was black on one side of his face, he was obviously hurt.
Plus from the books and things I read, Ketchell's KO power is all but unmatched at Middleweight---plus he made a brawl of his fights, he never used ring science---he looks clumsy and awful today on film, but he was forever chasing the KO.

Yea pretty much, but I read alot of his fights with Billy Papke. I like Ketchell's style, he just went beserk on his opponents.
Even though he was outclassed by Johnson, I thought to myself, damn if only people at Heavyweight nowadays threw wild punches and went crazy like that in fights ne more lol there would sure as hell be more asses in the seats and KO's.

Ill include fighters who Ive seen fight live rather than film. Bobby Chacon, Hagler, Danny Lopez, Yaqui Lopez, James Scott, Dwight Qwawi, Saad Muhamed, Joe Frazier, Barry Mcguigan, Mickey Ward. By live I mean in person or on TV.

Tommy's fights usually had it all, knockdowns, knockouts, great skill, bravery and you were never 100% that Tommy would win (especially in the later fights) even when he was dominating his opponent.

A guy who I thought always got overlooked was Cornelious "Boza" Edwards. I was never dissapointed with the action in any of his fights. Also Aaron Pryor was non stop action. John "The Beast" Muguibi because of his knockout ratio. Also guys like Frank "The Animal" Fletcher, James "Hard Rock" Green, Harold Braizier, and Buster Drayton would give you your money's worth.

Great picks, These guys were on the tube all the time. and with Boza and Fletcher it was a war every time.

I thought Ray Leonard would have came up more often. Wheather you prefered an action fighter or a tactical one he gave you the best of both. He provided one of the great highlights of all time with his knockout of Davey "Boy" Green. He had some other spectacular knockouts I thought that provided much entertainment.

We are on the same page here, good choices and definately a time when you really could catch a good fight on tv pretty regularly.

I remember as a kid running out to the mailbox looking for the T.V. Guide with much anticipation just to see who was fighting that week. Hardly a week went by when they didn't have fights on. Sometimes on more than one channel and sometimes at night for a big event. They even brought back Friday night fights for a brief time in the early eighties. I remeber what a bummer it was watching the Minter/Antufurmo rematch On abc while trying to watch the Dokes/Ocasio rematch on cbs and saying no need to tune into Dokes/Ocasio till about the third round and then switching over during the commercial and the fight was over. :x
