Saying that I am excited to be joining forces with Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions is an understatement. This is a moment that I have been anticipating for a long time. Sycuan Ringside Promotions has been doing a great job as Guzman’s promoter for some time and now with Golden Boy by our side we will be able to accomplish more as a team.

Our previously scheduled bout with WBO champion, Scott Harrison, was postponed numerous times. This causes Joan, as well as me, great frustration and we finally came to the realization that we cannot win against allegedly and all of his antics. Primarily because of this we decided to embrace the opportunity to join forces with Golden Boy Promotions. We are already making plans of fighting on the De La Hoya vs. Mayorga undercard on HBO Pay- Per-View. As his manager, I feel it’s in Guzman’s best interest to get exposure and build a fan base and not waste any more time with Harrison and his “tooth fairy tales.” It actually an unfortunate happening that fans in Scotland will not be able to see the two best featherweights clash in the ring, but I can assure them and anyone else that we were patiently awaiting the bout for six months. If they have anyone to blame, it is their own champion. Maybe he’ll take up our offer of coming over to the states and fighting us on HBO May 6th. This is something that I highly doubt.

With this we are now going to take our talent to an opponent that is to be announced and work on making our mark in the featherweight division. In closing I will like to thank HBO, Golden Boy Promotions, and our “family” at Sycuan Ringside Promotions for all of their efforts and hard work in making this happen. I suggest you all tune in tomorrow to Hot 97.1 between the hours of 9am and 10am to find out who our next opponent will be!

Presumably Sports Network have Harrison v Guzman signed up to a legally binding agreement and will sue Team Guzman if they break their contractual commitment?

If memory serves me correctly Warren & Maloney were not keen on this bout in the first place, they wanted Harrison to move straight up to 130. It wouldn't surprise me if they have left Guzman a way out.

Can you blame Guzman really? Harrison has pulled out twice, a third pullout is rumoured. He has to pay the bills somehow.

Warren will be over the moon in my opinion and will have no problem letting Guzman walk away

You can't blame Guzman at all, he has been waiting around for this fight for ages now only to keep getting messed around

Were there rumours that Harrison was about to pull out again. If they had got wind of something along those lines, then you can't blame them, but it may just be they didn't fancy coming over to the UK, and saw better opportunities with Golden boy.

I'm very dissapointed this fight has fallen through, whoever's fault it is, was really looking forward to seeing this one.

You do have to wonder whether Harrison has either been talked out of it, or simply couldn't make the weight any more.

Well the fight would have happened last weekend but for Harrison's rotten teeth.

I don't see that sports network have done much wrong, they had the Harrison v Guzman fight arranged for May 20th, its not as if SN couldn't supply a date for the fight to go ahead.

Looks to me like Guzman's managers didn't want their boxer to face Harrison IMO.

I think you're probably right, they probably didn't fancy it given that they think GBP can offer them fights on home turf.

Well Guzman needs to earn, and if they think Harrison may pull out of the next date you can hardly blame them for exploring other options. What would have happened if Harrison pulls out early May? Guzman has been paying expenses etc training for 3 dates and earned fook all.

Going by past form, Guzman isn't the most reliable boxer, he's pulled out of a few arranged fights in the past.

Harrison would have been instantly stripped for pulling out 'for any reson whatsoever' so If Guzman fancied the job why didn't he wait and see if Harrison was going to pull out.

Guzman will find himself dropped form his position if he withdraws as he is contracted and legally obliged to fight on 20th May.

I just don't think he fancies the reality of Harrison anymore and Northern Ireland is still a frightening place to some people.

Guzman has a career to be getting on with and good luck to him. Don't blame him for keeping his options open. Smart move. It's worked out well for Harrison too becuase although Guzman's not the force some think he is at world level, at least he was a "live" opponent at his peak unlike most of Harrison's opponents.

Harrison hasn't got cold feet, I don't think he would fear anyone in the feather/superfeather divisions.

I agree, Harrison isn't a chicken, I genuinely believe he wanted to face Guzman. I'm prepared to believe he may have been talked out of it, but not that he turned his back on the fight.

I agree, I don't believe any fighters are chickens but when SN see a current cash cow on the verge of getting flattened they will pull out all the stops to prevent the fight from taking place.

Yep! They probably kept stealing his toothbrush & paste so his teeth went rotten and he had to call the March 25th date off.

I don't follow ? How have SN ruined this fight?, Harrison was all set for 20th of May.
