Pereria vs Esham Pickering - IBF Feather title - Hatton Bill

Sorry if this already has a thread of its own, but I think it deserves one.
Not sure if it was officially UK fight of the year for 2005, but Eshams war with Michael Hunter was special. However Esham did lose??
I dont doubt that there will be big questions asked of how a man rated 30 in the world (by Boxrec) at Super Bantam gets a shot at Featherweight...
Personally I think Pereria's record looks very flakey, and Esham might have a shot. I also think Esham has been crying out for the move up in weight.
Thoughts?

My thoughts are that it might very well not happen. I hope it does but Joan Guzman's management say he's not coming to fight Scott Harrison now and they want to fight Pereira on May 6th on the undercard of Mayorga-De la Hoya.

Well, it will happen if Mr Warren manages to make Joan Guzman fight Scott Harrison on May 20th.

no harrison is huge and shouldn't be picking on little Pickering. esham has always said he fancies his chances against scott but, after outboxing scott for a couple of rounds, harrison will catch up with him
warren will far prefer this fight to one against guzman

apparently SN have a contract with guzman so he has to fight harrison.......apparently guzman's team asked SN if they could fight on may 6th.the request was denied....apparently.

Harrison would break the IBF's 10 pound rule so it would be unlikely he'd fight for the IBF's featherweight if Pickering won.

He means that if Guzman fights Perreira that Pickering would fill in for Guzman and fight Harrison .

Sorry British or not, I cannot say I am happy about underserving world title chances - and this one is.
I would like to see Pickering do it, I do have alot respect for him (especially after the Hunter fight) - but just think the Pierrera fella will be too strong and will win inside of 6 rounds.

Well it's funny because Pereira's title shot was underserved and now his first defence is against a fighter who doesn't deserve one either .

Well he is undefeated and fought as a Featherweight most of career. Has wins over Maurin, Lucero and a few other "testers" aswell.
Yes a not deserved title challenge, but not as bad as Pickering (IMO).

Oh I agree completely but Pickering wasn't selected high enough to fight for a vacant title(that's how Pereira won it) , he was only ranked 13 . So both are as bad as each other really .

i think pickering will get stopped rounds 6-9. if its a good pay day for him and he has a small chance of winning good luck to him.

Thats what i say too, but i think this fight is a too premature for him but who the hell cares, nice pay day the kid deserves it. Michael can wait.

Damn right he'd break the rule. For his last fight, against Nedal Hussein, Harrison put on 20lbs between the weigh-in and fight time. When he got in the ring, Scott weighed 146lbs!

It would be brilliant if this was to happen, especially if it was on terrestrial TV.
The old fighters were fighting @ their proper weight, the weigh-ins were on the day of the bout and there could not have been a great weight disparity like there is now days!
