Remember, this is a premier league style event and not a knockout competition. Once all fighters have fought each other twice the tournament is over and the fighter with the most points is the ultimate champion! Fights are 12 rounds, not 15, and fighters use 10 ounce gloves (not that I think that would make a real difference to any of the fights). For those who didn't read the first topic, these are 7 of my top 8 all-time heavies, I rate Tyson 12th from memory, but I found him just too interesting a fighter to leave out. The points system is as such:
KO win = 3 points
Decision win = 1 point
Draw = 0
Decision loss = -1 point
KO loss = -3 points

Lewis KO 3 Marciano

Ali vs Louis LSD 12 (I pick the upset)
Holmes vs Tyson TKO 8 (peak Holmes, that is)
Foreman vs Frazier KO2 (this fight acutally happened twice - George had Frazier's number)
Marciano vs Lewis LUD 12 (but this one is to pick - size, styles, all is so different. The pick is based on the guess that peak Lewis' defense would have held against Rocky, and that his jab would have decided the fight)

Btw, I don't like the socring system. A lopsided decision is just as good as a knockout and sometimes even better. Giving 3:1 points for a knockout is simply misguided and, btw, biases the tourney towards sluggers like Foreman.

Actually, I don't like the scoring system either, but I did not come up with it myself. Someone else came up with the idea of the format and scoring system of the tournament, and just asked people to name the 8 fighters they would have participate in the tournament. I liked the idea so much that I decided to make one happen and have people vote for the results. When the tournament is over, I will not just display the final points standings, but also the number of wins, losses, draws, ko's etc. I then plan to come up with a better system to rank the fighters, giving ko's only a slight advantage over UD wins.

I agree. I would like the people who have placed their votes to make a further vote on whether these tips are omitted from the count.

Generally there is more than just two people going for a ko result to one fighter, but in that circumstance, I would round it up to KO5. Not that it matters in the scoring though.

I know what you mean. It's a pretty difficult issue, so I'm not going to make a vote either way.

if you notice his post seems to have dissapeared somehow.....dilemna solved.

Well, so far there has been no scenario of fighter receiving an equal number of votes, but in that case it would be a draw, no matter what rounds were posted.

However, lets say that 4 people voted for Foreman and 2 voted for Tyson:
Foreman KO8
Foreman KO5
Foreman TKO 4
Foreman UD
Tyson KO9
Tyson KO3


Foreman has the most votes so he wins the fight. KO was the most popular result for a Foreman win, so that is the official result, so only those who voted for a Foreman stoppage are now counted, the average number of rounds being just 5 2/3, so the result is Foreman KO6. Fortunately I have not yet encountered a fight where stoppage and decision wins for the winning fighter had equal votes, because I have not yet decided how I would handle this.

ali also had a nice uppercut and threw some good fast hooks

You're saying that no way does Louis get stopped but Holmes gets stopped in 4? I'd say Holmes had the better defence and chin out of him and Louis.
