Hard luck Dean, if I am brutally honest I think its going to be tough to recover from this loss... It took over a year for you to get a fight after the Bennett loss (not your fault I know) not sure who is going to want to but their fighter in against you now. Don't think Khan is ready, maybe Murray.... but its probably going to be a fight were you will be there as a dangerous opponent.

Maybe the Welsh angle with Rees, but he's in a different camp so that could be hard. Although perhaps Warren will be confident of a Rees win.

I thought this fight was a little early in your return, but understand you reasoning to accept the fight - must have been frustrating. Respect to you for taking on such a dangerous fighter (as I said before, only Earl has beaten a fighter of this Tontchev's callibre, even still).

Just chin up, all isn't lost- its not as if you lost an undefeated tag, and lets hope Mr Maloney keeps you busy... I hope ticket sales went well.

First concern is obv. for Dean's health. Ironically, early knockouts have tended to be 'healthier' than late, though a count out is worrying (unless it was a body shot). Aside from the obvious, the worst place a first round KO hurts is in a promotional sense (adding weight to Stu's concerns). Anyhow, I feel for ya mate - with the inactivity and all... only the other day I caught an article linked on the front page of this site about a possible match with Gavin Rees, which I was looking forward to. Best of luck getting over this setback.

Please someone, who was at the fight, to tell how it passed. How much seconds needed Tontchev for the KO, what sort of punch, how much audience.

Kevin here, it was 1:46 of the first round a short left hook. I'd say there were around 700 there.

The referee didn't take up the count as it was clear that Phillips was out as soon as he hit the canvas, he took around two minutes to get up and they used oxygen on him but he was okay when I spoke to him after the show.

Really gutted for Dean.Was a very big shock as Dean was clearly getting some good shots in and looked totally in control.In my opinion i honestly thought it looked like Dean was gonna stop him early,but then Tontchev caught him with a very lucky shot when Dean was cold.He looked absolutely fine later.I know this was the first time this has ever happened to him and like its alredy been said it happens to the best of them.Good luck Dean for the future.

I will definitely use this as a learning experience and use it to my advantage. I felt that I was a lot stronger than him and was landing some very clean shots very early on. However, I knew instictively the mistake that I made, and you don't make mistakes against the likes of Tontchev without paying the price. This will be rectified and i will be back in the ring soon.

Dean and Frank M (who I know reads).

When the suspension is up, get on the blower to Team Peter McDonagh, despite the Gomez win, McDonagh is still a tough, but non puncher fighter (not suggesting your chinny Dean, the most durable can go if caught right). I've was going to suggest the fight the minute McDonagh beat Gomez, but thought you (Dean) might have considered it a backward step - given you seemed closer to the British title mix than him.

Now, I think it is the PERFECT fight to bounce back, and I fully expect you to beat him.

It would go the distance, but I think stylewise you'd be too much for him.

What a fornicating prick you really are. Ive not boxed in 12 years, but i'd love to have a move around with you. You need teaching a lesson, you really do.

Anyway, Dean, I thought Tonchev had gone back a lot but he was a true world class amatuer in the league of Don Cury, so if he has something left its a helleva lot.

My guess is that you may have done better countering and getting a few rounds in before letting you strength tell. Cause you must be bigger than him?

Anyway, easier to say that from the other side of the ropes, but fair play for sharing the ring with a tremendous fighter.

BTW: I reckon Alex Arthur is in for a tough night. His mandatory KO'd Tonvhev in 2 in Monaco.

Thats if Warren allows Arthur to fight him. Watch for Arthur to drop the EBU for the WBU
