JAMIE MOORE - An inflamed tendon of the shoulder has caused Jamie to withdraw from his British Title fight with Mathew Macklin due for the 5th May in Manchester. A disappointed Jamie immediately called Mathew to apologies and they had a good chat about injuries before both agreed to look forward to the rescheduled contest now due for early July. We hope to keep the 5th May date in Manchester and are now searching for a top of the bill fight which is acceptable to SKY - an offer has been made for what will be a local derby and we cannot see any reason for it not to happen,it is a great opportunity for both fighters. Fingers crossed.

STEPHEN FOSTER JNR - Retained his WBU featherweight title last Saturday against John Simpson with a comfortable points victory. Is was not a devastating performance but considering it was his first fight under Maurice Core and training had been interrupted by illness (Dust mites allergy as reported previously ) it was a sound victory and Stephen hopes to be back flying when he next defends on the 15th July at the MEN arena.

MARK THOMPSON - The Middleton Welterweight prospect went to 6-0 with a points victory over the durable Ernie Smith last Sunday at the TARA sports show in Shaw. Mark took this opportunity to show he could box as well as fight teasing Smith with a quick jab and quick foot movement.

ALEX MATTVIENKO - Bolton ticket seller Alex won fight of the night at Shaw after a brawl with Tony Rendall. There was not a seconds break in the contest as both boxers set about each other in a good old slug-fest which years ago would have brought out the nob-bins.[/b]

Thomas McDonagh is surely the viable fighter suggested in Stegsie's post.

You mean Ali v Macklin? :o

I think Macklin would be a bit too much for Ali.

Jamie is the one who is injured, which is why another fight is being sought.

No it was Ali v Matthew Hatton, but Hattons team did not want the fight.

The search continues.
