and then demand more money thereby scuppering the fight? I seem to remember Steve Bunce saying something along those lines but can't remember where and when I heard it. I know Joe claimed this was true in a recent interview.

Not as far as I'm aware. You may be thinking of Hopkins.

Don't talk bollocks, Hopkins had already fornicating signed to fight, and was being paid a career high purse, think it was around $4million or somthing, I'm sure boxingchat can remind us how much it was. He then suddenly asked for double what was initially agreed, much to the surprise of Jay Larkin.

Hopkins has done this before, challenges a bigger fighter then backs himself out with a silly demand. that's why he didn't fight Toney. he wanted 3m to fight Toney for his IBF cruiser title, but Hopkins was with DK at the time and with DK's cut it meant Hopkins get a bit less than 3m

Nothing to add. Exactly James. Perhaps if the ticket prices and PPV cost had been doubled that would be okay to some!
The tightarse comment was stupid.

Dude Hatton was paid over 6 mill for 4 years being with Warren, he sure can pay his fighters well better than Fa can.
Hopkins ran because he would of been in for an ultimate beating.
