That was one scary looking fighter. Are he and Hagler related perhaps?

Does anyone know what Bennie is up to these days?

Last I heard , he was working for the city of Philadelphia in the streets and sanitation dept. I think. He wont talk to the media. I dont know the reason for this. Maybe Mr. Buzz has some info on this.

Bennie hammered Tony Mundine in 5 a couple of fights before Mundine challenged Carlos Monzon. Tony was a mean looking dude but I'd say he wondered wtf he had in front of him at the sight of Baaad Bennie across the ring from him :D

Bennie Briscoe. What a tough fighter, one of my favourites. His second fight with Rodrigo Valdez (another of my favourites) is a great fight which I love to watch every now and then. Some of the hardest punching and best slugging I've seen in a fight. Valdez really was one of a kind, arguably the hardest middleweight puncher in history and a very well rounded fighter. Immensely strong. Only he could have stopped Briscoe like he did.

Bennie was a real tough looking fighter indeed. Very intimidating. For some reason I can't post images, but there are some real good ones on http://www.phillyboxinghistory.com.

The Philly Gym wars back in the seventies between the Middles must have been something to behold. Briscoe had a long career against some great fighters , and combine that with all the super hard sparring he did in the gyms and you have to figure he is one of the toughest fighters ever.

I agree! During his time in the ring Philly was absoultely loaded with exceptional talent in the 130-175 pound range, especially at middleweight.
