OF the heavyweight's sons that have picked up the gloves and fought I think Joe Frazier's son is the best. Unless I am missing some one? Marvis was a very good pro who lost only twice to the two best heavyweights of his time and two all-time greats in Larry Holmes and Mike Tyson. Both were first round KOs, but Marvis was put in with Holmes way too early.

Marvis did beat some decent fighters in the pros and the amateurs. Another heayweights sons who made it as a decent fighter was Buster Mathis' son(also Buster Mathis). I would pick Marvis to beat him though. Interesting not too many of the big name heavyweights of the past have had sons that have made it in the boxing game.

How about Tracy Harris Patterson. True, he was Floyd adopted son. However, he won the super featherweight title a couple of times.

Bob Fitzsimmons' son had a decent career at heavyweight. I was thinking that both a father and son was bare-knuckle champion, but I'm not certain of who it was.

We got Buster Mathis Jr. - pretty decent, Joe Bugner Jr. - is he still boxing?, Peter McNeeley, son of Tom - no! Tony Foster, son of Bob Foster - he didn't make anything.
James "Buster" Douglas was son of the good Middleweight Bill Douglas - Didn't he ko Tyson? Sure, there are more.

After a couple of beers, I would pick Brian London (Brian Harper), son of Jack London, former Briitish Empire & Commonweath Champion.
Brian had two challenges for the linear HWGT title, against Floyd Patterson and Mohammad Ali, However, he lost to both, but he almost knocked out Ingemar Johansson in the last round, in Ingos last fight, saved by the bell.
Some other names:
Paul Berlenbach Jr. - Sr. was a lightheavy champion
Bobby Britton - son of Jack.
Walt Featherman - son of Johnny
Jack Gibbons - son of Jack
Leroy Green Jr.
Harold Johnson - Lightheavy champion and hwgt contender, son of Phil.
Tom McNeely Jr. - didn't know Peter had another fighting brother.
Young Billy Miske
Young Jack Munroe
Billy Papke JR.
Jackie Sharkey - son of hwgt champ Jack.
Jersey Joe Walcott Jr. - even.

Isn't Chris Byrd son of former amateur & navy star Bill Byrd?

Watch out for my daughter - she's tough!

Don't forget about Leon Spinks son Cory Spinks 29-2 who just went 12 rounds in a losing effort for the IBF Welterweight title. He also holds the USBA title

McNeely correction: It must have been a Tom McNeely SR., father to Tom McNeely who challenged Floyd Patterson. And then came grandson Peter McNeely. Three generations, right?
Also, according to my picture collection, there was a Chuck Wepner Sr. Is this correct?

The two best I can think of were Harold Johnson, a great fighter who was better than his dad, and Floyd Mayweather who is likewise better than his own father. Buster Douglas was a better fighter than Bill, although Bill had a thousand times more courage and heart. Corey Spink is probably better than Leon, too. Although Leon, at his best, really was a better fighters than he'll be remembered as being.

Haven't seen him fight yet but I gather former European Heavyweight Champion Jean Chanet's son is a bit of a prospect in France. I think he fights at either L.Heavy or Cruiser.

On the politically incorrect side, Anthony Mundine's dad (Tony) also campaigned as a heavyweight at the tail end of his career.
