Just moved to London,due to my other half landing a decent job.Don't know one single soul in this city yet!Looking to start boxing,hopefully competing.I'am 24,6'4 weigh around 93-95 kilo,done a bit of weight training in the past,but that was a few years back.As i say,I am seriously interested in starting boxing,but to be honest I have not got a clue where to start looking!

I live in the Poplar area.Hopefully there is a boxer from a local club,or a trainer that could recommend me a club in or around this area.I would be willing to travel a bit further,but directions are a must,as I have zilcho knowledge of the area!!!!

A good gym in London is Maloney Fight Factory which is based in Deptford it has great character and the trainers take personal training classes if you wish or you can just train yourself.

There is always a good atmosphere and there is always an old or young pro working out.

I have used it a few times to work out and the pub downstairs is full of characters and you may think you have gone back in time.

This gym is the nearest you will get to the old 'Beckett'.

If I was you I would give it a try.

This gym is used by a lot of London Cabbies.

Fitzroy Lodge is great gym, I train there regularly. Mick Carney doesn't take on bullshit and no slacking during training. He's a great guy, is Mick, makes you laugh a lot.

Someone I know and meet see every now & then, claims to train @ Maloney fight factory, Deptford. His name is Tony Coyle. Have you ever seen him @ the gym, mate?

The maloney fight factory does sound good,but does it cater for amateurs?does it enter amateurs in tournaments etc?

I have heard of the peacock.Famous old gym according to a family member of mine good amateur pedigree apparently.Sounds like the sort of place I am looking for.

You're lucky, Seph24. The gyms in London sound great, not accounting for the inevitable sparring pool. The Maloney bro's place sounds awesome.

Forget the Fight Factory, atleast try Amateur Boxing first! use the club finder i mentioned and have ago at the sport!
