12th round of Jezzamundo's dream heavyweight tournament

Results from the 11th round are:

Ali UD12 Marciano
Holmes SD12 Louis
Foreman KO5 Lewis
Frazier KO9 Tyson

So the points table reads:

1. Ali 995 points (11-0-0, 2 ko)
2. Louis 935 points (9-2-0, 6 ko)
3. Holmes 805 points (9-2-0, 3 ko)
4. Foreman 660 points (6-4-1, 6 ko)
5. Lewis 380 points (4-7-0, 2 ko)
6. Marciano 265 points (1-9-1, 1 ko)
7. Frazier 250 points (2-9-0, 1 ko)
8. Tyson 110 points (1-10-0, 1 ko)

The next round of fights are:

Ali vs Foreman (Ali won first fight KO8)
Louis vs Tyson (Louis won first fight KO8)
Holmes vs Lewis (Holmes won first fight TKO12)
Frazier vs Marciano (Frazier won first fight SD12)

Remember, this is a premier league style event and not a knockout competition. Once all fighters have fought each other twice the tournament is over and the fighter with the most points is the ultimate champion! Fights are 12 rounds, not 15, and fighters use 10 ounce gloves (not that I think that would make a real difference to any of the fights). For those who didn't read the first topic, these are 7 of my top 8 all-time heavies, I rate Tyson 12th from memory, but I found him just too interesting a fighter to leave out. The points system is as such:
KO win = 100 points
TKO win = 100 points
UD win = 90 points
MD win = 75 points
SD win = 60 points
Draw = 50 points
SD loss = 40 points
MD loss = 25 points
UD loss = 10 points
TKO loss = 0 points
KO loss = 0 points

Just curious Jezz....I havent been keeping real close track of all the compiled results though I have read each installment along the way. My memory is failing me a bit I guess. Have we had any splits? Where fighter A and B have each one a fight?

And was your plan to have rubber matches in that case? Can't remember all the original plans for this, going in.

Splits:

Holmes won the Louis rematch after losing the first
Frazier won the Tyson rematch after losing the first
Foreman vs Marciano II was a draw after Foreman won the first

There will be no rubber matches, that would be messing with the tournament formula.

Ali UD12 Foreman (Foreman fights smarter this time, but can't get the decision)
Louis KO10 Tyson (Competitive fight with Louis getting off the canvas in the middle rounds to stop Tyson late)
Lewis MD12 Holmes (Very close fight, highly disputed decision)
Frazier Draw12 Marciano (My head says Marciano who was great in rematches, but my heart sees Frazier hanging in to get a draw)

Ali vs Foreman. If it's prime Ali he beats Foreman every time. Ali UD12 Foreman.
Louis vs Tyson. Louis KO6. Tyson doesn't believe in his chance
Holmes vs Lewis. Lewis MD12 - Lewis was brillian in refights, could adapt well.
Frazier vs Marciano. Frazier TKO11 on cuts (just to piss off Brockton).

...i find it odd that holmes wins the rematch against louis..who was the best rematch fighter we've had. my guess would be if holmes did beat louis it would be in the first one (don't agree...just making the suppostion), then louis would kayo him the second time around. same goes for if holmes even went the distance with louis in the first and mad it competitive.

Ali W KO12 Foreman (Foreman paces himself better, wins more rounds, has Ali in big trouble in the middle rounds but then Ali rallys and stops him late)

Louis W KO Tyson 10 (Louis gets dropped and hurt badly but Mike misses his chance and gets KO'd)

Holmes DMD 12 Lewis (2 jabbers fight cautiously)

Marciano WSD 12 Frazier (Frazier and Marciano figth to another split decision this time Rocky gets the nod, both men praise the other and want to do it all again in 6 weeks time)

keep the votes coming

Even though I picked Lennox (I picked Larry in the first fight), I agree to an extent. I think Lennox would have a better chance of beating Foreman than he would Holmes. I think far superior is a bit of an exaggeration though, I think the main thing Holmes had over Lewis is a better chin and a better jab, while Lewis had more power and was generally a stronger man than Holmes.

Ali vs Foreman (Ali won first fight KO8) Ali UD

They both go in and give it their best but for all the power Foreman has he just can't deliver the package and gets picked apart...

Louis vs Tyson (Louis won first fight KO8) Louis KO 8

How is Tyson supposed to have the mental toughness to deal with this guy?

Holmes vs Lewis (Holmes won first fight TKO12) Holmes UD 12

Lewis fights a smarter fight it's close but Larry is in charge.

Frazier vs Marciano (Frazier won first fight SD12) Marciano SD 12

Would these guys want to do this again? Nobody really wins either of these. It's just broken ribs and a world of hurt for both of them. The judges give the ongoing mess to the "other guy" this time. But it's hard to tell their "remains" apart at the end of this one.
