Robert Mitchum

I read in his bio that actor Robert mitchum has been a professional boxer with a record of 27 fights. Also it is said that he was once was challenged in a bar by a heavyweight, ranked # 2 or 3 in the world at the time, and Mitchum knocked him out.
does anyone know any more of this?
